I'm more curious why folks still reply to Stonehog posts. We are pretty sure why he still posts.

Good grief. Link? From what I can tell, it was the sickle cell that caused issues here.

I distinctly recall Bert mentioning sickle cell and the hunh, and the problems it would cause.

I remember him using a tragic death to try and strengthen his position.

Doesn't mean he was correct or morally right to do so.

Honestly if a player has sickle cell trait then he should not be playing football. If he does he does so at his own peril.

From the OP

quote:

Sickle cell trait is a genetic disorder that can be catastropic, especially during extreme physical exertion.

Might want to take your own advice. Thank you for reposting that it was the sickle cell that led to his issues. Seeing as you are trolling, though, I know you won't.

Bielema has been talking about how dangerous sickle cell can be during extreme physical exertion. What exactly are you failing to understand here?

Right on, OP. Bret correctly recognizes that the HUNH causes kids with sickle cell anemia to die. Also, kids with autosomal recessive disorders, of which there is a high occurrence in some parts of the country, can sometimes be caused to die by any violent physical contact. Clearly, football should be played with pillows.

That has nothing to do with the HUNH. It has to do with football. Unless you are also trying to argue that without the HUNH, football wouldn't be extreme physical exertion. If so, again, you would continue to look like an idiot.

This isn't what I'm failing to understand. It is about you continuing to be intellectually dishonest.

When it's discovered that they do, in fact, have a disorder such as sickle cell they stop playing right?

Look, it's tragic that kids have died because of this condition, and using it as a cop out to help you win football games is despicable TBH.

Not a terrible idea, considering how many people have been freaking out about a player's poor little belly getting stepped on.
