Yep, my degree is economics. We always had great professors, especially ones who would come to the Institute on a sabbatical and teach one or two classes

Gordon, right? I think he's the only faculty at Auburn who is also a fellow at the LvMI.

Honestly, I wasn't being sarcastic and had no idea the extent of the music scene in Athens

Not a terrible band although I haven't listened to them in a while. My brother who is about as far as you can possibly get from being a stoner, druggie, or hippie turned me on to WSP in the very early 90s. I was never a die hard fan but do like a lot of their music and have been to a few shows. They are right up there with the very best bands to come out of Athens. They had a very unique sound especially during the Houser era.

Part of Neutral Milk Hotel was formed in Athens.
So pretty much Athens > every other SEC town

I know I had Joseph Salerno who is the VP
Can't remember a lot of my professors off the top of my head except a few that weren't in the Mises like Mike Stern, his wife, Randy Beard
I don't remember having a Gordon but I was there four years starting in 07

Lexington (along with Bourbon and Woodford Counties, which are contiguous): like 90% of derby winners or horses you've ever heard of

Not sure if it counts as coming out of the town but the Mises Institute is a favorite of mine in Auburn
I'd pick Sela Ward as the best thing to come out of Tuscaloosa, except she's actually from Meridian, so she doesn't count. But here's a pic of her anyway:

Yeah, Sela is indeed super hot.

let's not forget Eric O'Neill who helped bring down a traitor who was selling information to the Russians
