Washington played Oregon and won. Oregon and Washington played again and before the game Oregon was -9.5 point favorites yet Washington won again. And I guarantee if Oregon and Washington played again Oregon would be favorites. So should Oregon be in ahead of Washington?

This is what has happened today, we let the assumption of one team being better than the other by (eye test) than putting in the team who did everything that should be needed to be done to make it into the postseason.

This one appears to be deeply embroiled in the "bargaining" step of the cycle currently.

We should go back to the computer BCS model and take the committee out of it.

It would need work. It had Bama 3 ahead of a team that beat them. But atleast it can't be bought and statisticians can breakdown the logic of its decision. Just cause isn't an answer.

This isn't 2022 Alabama with no resume and an entire argument of "but we have lots of talent and lost close games".

- Alabama has the best collection of wins in the country (#6 UGA, #11 Ole Miss, #13 LSU, #21 Tennessee)

- Alabama's #3 best win (LSU) is FSU's best win

- Alabama's only loss was to #3. Florida State hasn't played a team ranked higher than #13.

- Alabama has 3 Top 15 wins. Florida State has 1.

- Florida State played 2 games without their starting QB. They played the #64 defense (Florida) and the #26 defense (Louisville) per SP+. They averaged 20 PPG and 222 YPG. That would rank #133 (last) in yards per game and #119 in points per game nationally. The playoff defenses rank #1, #9, #10 and #45.

The idea that this flatly comes down to "muh Vegas lines" is silly.

You've almost gotten through the grieving process. I hope you come out on the other side.

Go place a $1,000 bet on FSU vs UGA then and screenshot it for us, if you really believe FSU is a top 4 team in the nation then they shouldnt have any problem with #6

Saban essentially argued "muh Vegas lines" last season.

Saban says whatever pops in his head at the moment.
And is "never" held accountable in the future.

You know this is true.
It should be laughable.
But it is sad.

And half of college football eats his shite.
It's a little tiresome that Saban is the recipient of new precedent every 4 years or so.

Okay, now what about when Michigan had less yards than FSU in their conference title game. And 60 passing yards vs penn state? So Michigan shouldnt be in?

Never said I thought they were a top 4 team. But they deserve to be ranked in the top 4 and give themselves an opportunity to play for it.

Yea, and he lost. Just like Kirby did this year.

LOL, your coach did the same shite this year bucko. It's called doing your job. Your job is to fight for your kids and your program and use whatever you have at your disposal.

Q. Kirby, why are you guys one of the four best teams do you think?

KIRBY SMART: I think it's the eye test. You look at what we've done this season, to go on the road, the teams we beat, the teams that are in the top 20 that we were able to beat.

It's sitting back with a committee who has to determine who the best four teams are. If it's truly the four best teams, let's put the four best teams in.

Your coach has now done the "we're one of the best 4 teams so we deserve to be in" 3 times after losing to Alabama in Atlanta. One time it actually worked and it earned you a title.

So spare us the righteous indignation.

So you agree with the committee.

Thanks

You know the purpose of the Committee is to give us the 4 best teams, right?

Against the #2 defense in the country?

Sure, totally comparable.

Saban literally said that UGA was one of the top 4 teams in the country and then voted UGA #5 because they didn't deserve to be in the playoff (2018).

Do you have evidence of that hypocrisy from Kirby?

It is one thing to claim your team is one of the best in the country. I don't know a team who doesn't do that.
I hadn't read kirbys interview. Did he say UGA would be favored? Was that the wording?

Do you really think they are the #2 and #4 defense in the country or do you think they play in a conference where half the offenses can't operate other than run up the middle.

What happened is the committee asked which team offers the best chance for maximum ratings in the playoff. Alabama wins over Florida St and their backup QB.
