When it was Stansbury/Gottfried, the Bama/MSU rivalry was as good as it gets. I still don’t like State basketball but the hate is gone.
Was coming in to say the same thing.
When I was in school (late 90's - early 00's), the UA/MSU rivalry was fierce. Lots of recruiting battles and some great games.

Started UK in ’77 and until Richardson and the Hogs joined, LSU was our biggest SEC rivalry.
In ‘91 Brown and Pitino nearly got into a fight during the first game in Baton Rouge. The return game in Lex was the loudest I’ve ever heard Rupp. It was insane as the Cats pulled off an unimaginable upset over the Shaq, Roberts and Jackson team.

Hell I saw Alan Houston & 4 turds beat Shaq, Jackson & Roberts. Dale Brown could work miracles.

That LSU team had some head scratching losses. At times Jackson looked like he was on the take.
Was probably one of the few UK fans that liked Dale Brown, lot of respect for that man.

For UK, it’s historically been:
1) Tennessee
2) Florida
3) various years with either Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, and Mississippi State. However, none of these programs have been remotely consistent and nothing really there to care about a lot of years.
