When it was Stansbury/Gottfried, the Bama/MSU rivalry was as good as it gets. I still don’t like State basketball but the hate is gone.

Was coming in to say the same thing.

When I was in school (late 90's - early 00's), the UA/MSU rivalry was fierce. Lots of recruiting battles and some great games.

Started UK in ’77 and until Richardson and the Hogs joined, LSU was our biggest SEC rivalry.

In ‘91 Brown and Pitino nearly got into a fight during the first game in Baton Rouge. The return game in Lex was the loudest I’ve ever heard Rupp. It was insane as the Cats pulled off an unimaginable upset over the Shaq, Roberts and Jackson team.

Hell I saw Alan Houston & 4 turds beat Shaq, Jackson & Roberts. Dale Brown could work miracles.

That LSU team had some head scratching losses. At times Jackson looked like he was on the take.

Was probably one of the few UK fans that liked Dale Brown, lot of respect for that man.

For UK, it’s historically been:

1) Tennessee
2) Florida
3) various years with either Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, and Mississippi State. However, none of these programs have been remotely consistent and nothing really there to care about a lot of years.

You left out Vandy’s rivals with UK and UT. And just for that I will remind you the Vols have never made the Final 4. lol

Arkansas fans might feel sorry for Kentucky for hiring a giant flop to replace the coach we took from them….but other than that….not so much.

UK might be the 5th or 6th best team in the SEC right now. Bubble team at best.

The University of Calipari started 0-5 in the SEC last year and just snuck in.

So feeling better about our chances than the Hog fans were this time last year.

You guys have a good team and are playing well, might want to focus on that.

Before my time but I bet those Nolan Richardson vs Rick Pitino games were wars in the 90s.

The cool thing about it is Pitino and Richardson liked and respected one another. Richardson gave Pitino a pair of boots.

Honestly feel like we are in a weird spot since we shot up from obscurity to 3X national champion in relatively short period of time.

Without doubt UK has become a great rivalry in BD era and beyond. It should remain so now given UF’s ascension as a program.

When Arkansas joined the SEC it was RP at Ky, Dale at LSU and Wimp at Bama with his best teams. Some of the best up and down, high level basketball this conference had seen up until last year. Thnk of the talent on all four of those teams at the time. Im sure I am missing others but Krugar and Fl had a final four and Aubs and SC had some good teams in the 90s.

But in the early 90s those four produced some great college basketball.

Florida got on UK’s radar back in the 90’s with Kruger and players like Dewayne Swxhinihshfhtnnous, the meat hook, and Dan Cross.

The Arkansas thing in the 90’s was red hot from 92-95, but burned out just as quick as then they proceeded to become fairly irrelevant for about 25 years. They are a good case study for UK to try and avoid right now.
