I mean...hyperbole? maybe. But he was right. The only difference was Walker in the offense. It didn't upset me. I laughed at the Norris comment. I am just waiting for them to show me the love for Derrick Henry from anybody but Alabama fans.

Its more funny because the RB in line to start in 1980 had the last name Norris.
I had forgotten that.

I don’t think it’s Henry. I’ve always said the best backs in the SEC were Walker and Jackson. I think most have said that in this thread.

This wasn't the tune LSU fans were singing going into that game on November 7, 2015. If I recall correctly, LSU was undefeated and ranked #2 in all of college football that night.
The oline was utterly dominated that night. Fournette didn't have a chance. It ended up a 3-loss team. Are you saying 2015 Alabama was not a much better team than LSU?

He made his name rushing against directional teams.
Revisionist history. He played 2 games against non p-5 schools and 10 vs p-5. in the 10 vs P5.
In those 10 games he averaged 6.3 ypc which is still better than Derrick Henry. He made his name against the SEC with 230 yds and 3 tds against Auburn, 160 and 3 tds vs MS State, 160 and 1 vs A&M, 180 and 2 vs Florida, 160 and 1 vs USCe. The fact is, even with the line getting absolutely dominated against Bama, he was better on average than Henry was and any objective person would admit that Bama's Oline was quite a bit better than LSU's.
Throw receiving stats in and the gap widens.

just don't think you guys recognize the greatness of Herschel. He is the one true God. He stole the Declaration of Independence, he kills elephants by running through them. If Derick Henry saw Walker play in person he would turn his hair into pigtails and prance away like a little bitch.
PRAISE HERSCHEL
So you're saying, When God said, “Let there be light!” Herschel said, “Say Please"?

After the 'Bama loss he couldn't top 200 yards rushing combined in the next two games (losses) and only managed one TD.
Fournette folded against his best competition of the season while Henry excelled. You can place all the blame on the OLine if you want, but ol' Leonard had a mental block against 'Bama and shite his pants every time he lined up across from them for three years straight. Saying he was better than Henry in 2015 is truly hilarious.

Revisionist history. In the final 3 games (SECCG and 2 playoff games), Henry averaged barely over 4 ypc, way down from over 6 the rest of the season.

I don't have to say it, higher td per carry and significantly higher ypc behind a weaker oline says it for me.
The only honest way to compare them is against common opponents. Fournette was noticeably better and the statistical seperation is greater than just averaging their seasons.
Against 6 common opponents (the rest of the West and Florida):
Henry - 204 carries 1122 yards 8 tds 5.5 ypc
Fournette - 134 carries 925 yards 10 tds 6.9 ypc
Adding in receptions/yards widens the gap even further.
You are biased and that's to be expected, but understand that there is no objective metric that shows Henry was better in 2015.

If tu could keep their former RB’s alive and/or off drugs, they might have had nice NFL careers.
The essence of aggy on full display.
Texas has 5 RB's gain from 6,000-10,000 yards in the NFL. A&M has never had one alumni rush for over 5,000 yards in their NFL career.
One of the UT 5 was Cedric Benson who died SEVEN years after his 8 year NFL career.
I'm assuming the "drug" reference was Ricky Williams who managed a measly 10,000+ career yards.. only double that of any Aggy NFL player.
Of course the reference couldn't have been ex aggy Darren Lewis who had the pleasure of being the 1st rookie to test positive for cocaine at the combine before stockpiling 463 stellar career rushing yards after being a 1st team All American at TAMU.
Fitting story, after leaving a Dallas restaurant with an old friend/NFL head coach some bum hits us up for "food money". The bum was none other than Darren Lewis. Last I heard he was doing 25+ in federal prison.
You cocksuckers never disappoint when it comes to self awareness and general dumbfrickedness.

Any Chuck Norris reference is usually pretty funny. I get that. I didn't mean to come off upset about the comment.

You are correct. About the only people that have not said Walker and Bo are Tide fans, and I get that they love their own player.
In all honesty, I would have a hard time choosing between Herschel and Bo. They were both incredible athletes. Just about every team in the SEC can point to at least one or two RBs as being great.
What makes it so tough is it is hard to separate success in the NFL with their college accomplishments. We all tend to want to blur the line.

Henry holds the record for most yards in high school history, most yards in a season in SEC history, and earned the nickname King Henry in the NFL while you're giving me some list based on someone's opinion.
You can’t make an objective argument using yards in high school. I’ve seen high school players rack up yards playing AA when their better AAAAAAA counterparts were gaining much less for obvious reasons. Herschel Walker was a man among boys and ran behind an average to just above average line when he was at UGA. Henry? Herschel was, by any measure and on almost all objective lists, the best RB in the history of CFB. You all can keep touting your very good home boys, but they were no Herschel Walker, period end of sentence.
Herschel Walker

Im a big chuck norris fan. Anything (jokes) that spreads the joy of chuck norris into more peoples lives is a plus in my book.
But the notion that the offense was built for anyone's success is laughable. It was quite the opposite. 11 defenders keying on one man.
When we practice offense versus defense and the defense knows what plays the offense is repping, we (the defense) should look like all americans.
When a MLB hitter knows the fastball is coming inside, the hitter should look like an MVP.
Then there is when What Should Happen meets Herschel Walker? Queue more chuck norris jokes.
Im not making excuses for Herschel's yards per carry.
Im blasting defensive coordinators who allowed the most yards by a freshman in one season (1616), the most yards by a sophomore in one season (1891), and the most yards in 3 seasons (5259).
The fact that the leading rusher in 1979 reached 589 yards and the leading rusher in 1983 reached 519 yards cements the fact of when What Should Happen meets any other running back is the norm.

70% of Henry's yards were after contact yards. You need a different excuse.

Imagine this...you are a former NFL player who was a:
3-time Super Bowl Champion
Pro Bowl Selection
and on the NFL All-Rookie Team
yet, when people look for a highlight from your senior season of college...this is what always comes up first:
That's what a Freshman Herschel Walker did in his debut against Bill Bates.

Herschel didnt play a snap in the first half.
Tennessee was up 9-0. Late in the third quarter with Tennessee up 15-2, Herschel "runs right through 2 men" for his first TD. 5 minutes later, he scores his second TD and UGA wins 16-15.
In a cool twist of fate, Herschel and Bill Bates would be teammates on the Cowboys. Do they do Oklahoma drills in the Pros (it could be a cruel twist of fate)?

Herschel was a stud, no doubt. You won’t get an argument from me if you consider him the SEC’s best ever - he and Bo are clearly the cream of the crop.
I just hope one day we can say that Herschel was a better US Senator than he was a football player. You guys need to make that happen.

And Bill Bates was an outstanding player. Without Herschel Walker coming into that game....Tennessee would have won and any shot at winning a title would have been lost.
I do feel for Bates that that is the play that people remember, though.
