As this weekend demonstrated, the Kentucky-Louisville rivalry eclipses all others in college athletics. The intensity and pure hatred between the fans of the two teams goes far beyond other rivalries. There are more families than you realize where family members won't speak to one another again for a long time because of the feeling aroused by this rivalry. UNC-Duke, Michigan-Ohio St., Alabama-Auburn might be considered #2, 3 and 4 (in no particular order) in the same tier, but UK/U of L is the clear top rivalry.

I have honestly never seen the UK/UL rivalry ever brought up as being a top 10 rivalry.

Let me know when you all start killing things over the rivalry.

Have you ever spent any time in Kentucky...Not talking game day but any time, even off season?

We did have some dialysis patients get into a fist fight over the rivalry while getting dialysis.

I think everyone agree that no rivalry in America, or possibly sports in general that eclipses the Iron Bowl

Let's not kid ourselves. The UL/UK rivalry is third on their list of reasons that they don't speak to each other, right after "she done stoled my meth" and "you married a black boy?!?"

Agree and listing Mizzou/kU first, IMO is correct. Whereas most rivalries are based on sports, Mizzou/kU isn't. Both states have hated each other for 170 years and will until the end of time.

In any sport?

The Iron Bowl is the best rivalry in football, and arguably in all of sports. Red Sox/Yankees and Celtics/Lakers the only other rivalries that have the argument, in my opinion. Michigan/tOSU right up there, as is Army/Navy.
