You could make a case for LB Dantzler, hes had an amazing start to the year so far. But Rhymes is a stud.

Boggs or Tony Gwynn or Joe Mauer. The only thing is they actually provided value with their glove.

Tony was not really a good defensive player.

When he was fat at the end. He always had a great arm and used to play a little defense when he was young (five gold gloves). I mean, the man played right field. That's not generally where you put your chopped liver in the field. You fellas are just remembering fat Tony.

Wait, I mean this one.

Not to be confused with this guy:

I don't know who, but looking at their stats, someone at Kentucky is hitting like crazy.

Without looking, I know Cousino has hit well so far. Reed too I believe. Cous is a badass at the plate.

Am I the only one that would take Stuart's numbers over Detz here? Especially considering what Turner has done to runners on the base bath behind the plate thus far.

This isn't about fielding. See title.

I did and okay, remove the part about fielding. I would take Turner's numbers right now

This

Detz has gone from a virtual unknown looking to split time at 3nd and 2nd to leading the SEC in average.

Oh and Detz .607 OBP > Turner .491 OBP

Detz also has almost a 2:1 BB:SO ratio compared to Turner's 1:2 ratio. Seems to me Turner just goes up hacking at the ball.

John Cohen's teams are all about the OBP

And Turner's .766slg > Detz .650

as well as 3 more RBI's. It is just funny to me that Al states "I see your...and raise you" and I do not see much of a raise. I see a lateral move at best.

OBP and what you do with RISP are alot more important to a describe a good hitter than Avg and slugging percentages.

We really need to wait longer to say who the best hitter is. It has to be Rhymes up to this point. No one was in his ballpark last year, at or above .500. Can anyone argue with that?
