The team with the highest BA doesn't win it's the team that scores more runs. Who is the leader in run production? That's what matters.

What are you talking about? You're mixing team BA with individual run production, which is subjective anyway, hence the whole point behind the thread in asking which batter is best at producing runs in this sport we call baseball.

The best statistic that I know of to do this is gross production average, which is 0.25 * [(1.8 * OBP) + SLG], although there are others.

Changing the focus of the thread so that an Ole Miss player can be considered because of RBIs. In other words, everyone has ignored him because he misses the focus of the thread. Doc

Ole Miss did manage to score more runs than Tennessee last year.

More than .100 higher than the #2? That is crazy.

What is crazy is that he was batting .500 on the season with just a couple of weeks left. I think he ended the regular season with an average above .485.

Run production son. Runs scored plus RBIs less HR = run production. It is not only the most important stat (team or individual) but the only one that really matters. You can have the .400 hitter that produces 30 runs and I'll take the .300 guy that produces 35.

To be clear, I am not trying to put down or pump up anyone. Rhymes run production was probably the best in the SEC last year or close. I didn't look it up. Obviously a guy with a high BA and OBP will more than likely produce a lot of runs. And a player who gets on a lot can't help it if the guys behind him don't bring him in.

My point I guess is that BA is pretty to look at, but run production is what matters. Anyone who knows anything about the game realizes this.
