Looks like Turner Field and Bryant-Denny ran train on JHS.

I really like the way VHS looks from the outside. Cool design. But BDS is the standard for now, till KF grows up.

Jordan Hare is a really nice stadium. Tiger Stadium is big and loud, but not as nice as JH.
Kyle is ok, and will be top 5 when renovations are done.
Razorback stadium is a dump. I can't imagine how bad War Memorial is. The old Ags that have been there won't even discuss it and they only say, "Worse than Lubbock."

Jordan Hare looks like shite. Seriously?

Death Valley by an infinitesimally monumentally wide margin over #2 Florida and #3 Neyland-Tennessee and #4 Sanford-Georgia and #5 Kyle.

I don't think he's been to any of them.
I really wonder if these expansions are going to be filled up in a decade. America isn't growing like it used to, and neither are our primary immigration countries. Also, apathy, tv, and video games...
I think the "forever growth" model that has ruled a lot of American thinking since WWII is not going to hold up in a lot of areas, including sports arenas.
The movement should be towards nicer, not larger, IMO.

Bryant Denny is a damn work of art.

Yeah, it is. It gets my vote.

That's a great shot
(were there any visiting fans at that particular game--whomever they were?? Ha).
I've never before noticed how far the seats are from the sidelines in BD.

I think a distinction between "nicest" stadium and "best" stadium needs to be made. I think BDS is the nicest when all aspects of a stadium are judged but there are SEC stadiums with more consistently better atmospheres like LSU, Florida, Auburn, and possibly A&M. BDS can get just as loud as these stadiums but it doesn't have as seating as steep as these stadiums and it doesn't stay as consistently loud as these stadiums.

I don't like that idea because it makes stadium attendance an elitist activity. That would choke out the sport long-term as too often the environment in the suites is more like a social activity than a live event.
What is nice about expansion is if in the long run more "regular" fans can afford to go. That will up the intensity and broaden the base of future fans and recruits.

Top 3 aesthetically: Bama, RRS, and Death Valley. (Kyle will likely replace DV next year in top 3 here).
Top 3 atmosphere: DV, JHS, and BHG. (Kyle may also move into this come 2015)
As far as aesthetics go, LSU has got to drop money on the lower bowl next. If it costs too much money to renovate the old dorms, LSU should tear them down and use that space for some awesome amenities. What other stadium has that kind of space inside it?

I was told those were built so LSU could spend academic facility money on the stadium. Is there not some stipulation tied to them?

Huey P. Long was a huge LSU advocate back in the 20s. He saw the need for a new stadium, and wanted the State to help with funding. He went to the legislature and they turned him down for stadium funding. He went back to the legislature and got approval for funding for new dorms...on top of which a new stadium just happened to be built.
As far as I know, there is no stipulation as TAF owns and maintains the stadium, and the dorms have been empty since the 80s I believe.
Here are some pics that show Tiger Stadium as it was originally built: dorms with s stadium on top:

JH has a nice atmosphere, but the stadium looks like crap and needs to be renovated badly.

I think this too. I'm also curious to see if we start stadiums getting retrofitted. Tearing down existing sections to make club/plaza sort of nice type seating. No one wants nose bleeds.
