AU was the first school to refer to their all white unis as 'stormtrooper'
this is where you lose me. Obviously this couldn't have been adopted by anyone until at least 1977 and probably much later, decades after many teams had been wearing all white uniforms. unless you can pinpoint when auburn started using that term, i'm calling bullshite
quote:
that means there must be something unique or special, or at least the first to do it.
there is nothing unique about an all white uniform and auburn was not the first to wear them either.

Still no link for this claim, eh?

Would need to see some data to back that claim up. Doing a quick Google search turned up articles from 2011 referring to Oregon as wearing stormtrooper uniforms but I didn’t see anything that old when searching for Auburn. This was just a quick search though so if you have something then feel free to post it.

Here is a video montage from Texas

Honestly, calling them storm trooper uniforms is a fairly recent thing.

Started by Oregon most likely considering that’s been their thing.

So what's particularly original or creative about the
"Stormtrooper" (Gay BTW) compared to MSU,PSU,UT,Wisconsin or Stanford?

I’m not a big fan of the “War Eagle” on the belt, but I hate the blue pants. Personally, I love the Away “Stormtrooper” unis.

"Oregon's Nike Pro Combat 'Storm trooper' uniforms for USC game revealed
8
Nike's showing off Oregon's special uniforms for this Saturday's USC game, which makes very little sense since Oregon always has special uniforms, but just go with it, man.
By Jason Kirk Nov 2, 2012,
Not sure how Oregon managed to create hype around the uniforms they're wearing this weekend against USC, but they've gone and done it. The anticipated "Storm troopers" uniforms are here, dubbed "White Vapor" by Nike."

Oregon uses the names from Nike for their uniforms - because uncle Phil.

Got all that? Good, because for Monday's BCS game against Auburn, No. 2 Oregon had yet another twist, this one to its all-white so-called "Stormtrooper" look. The numbers have neon-yellow piping around them, and matching neon-shaded cleats and socks that are designed to make the players' feet a blur as they dart downfield.

What was the point you were trying to make again?

I just think it's hilarious when teams try to lay claim to the trademark of an all white uniform as if it's unique
Was simply pointing out amidst the absurdity of your getting worked up over this that our white uniforms, as they now stand, are older than our navy uniforms, as they now stand, and in fact were our “primary” uniform for a while. Not saying we should have a claim to the “all white uniform” (which is ridiculous), but trying to temper however slightly your indignation that someone would take more pride in our whites than our blues.
Also I’ve never heard anyone else refer to theirs as “stormtroopers” unless in direct reference to ours, but that’s neither here nor there. Google appears to suggest that the earliest reference to Auburn’s as such post-dates that 2010/11 NCG article by a few months, but tbh that’s a close enough time period that I am not sure much can be drawn from it. I graduated high school in 2011 and I could be wrong, but I believe we were calling them “stormtroopers” back then, which would have predated the NCG article of Jan. 2011.
Not that it really matters.
