Just to be clear, you're mad that they didn't pay enough?

Just to be clear, no. I just find it odd USC is paying a 13 million dollar buyout only to hire a guy like like that. Basically, why fire Muschamp unless you know you're hiring someone with any sort of pedigree as a head coach that would be worth more than a top paid coordinator.

You seem like you've got some misplaced anger.

anger? no anger here

What LSU is paying Pelini is completely irrelevant. He was a bad hire. Pelini being a bad hire has nothing to do with USC paying a huge buyout to hire a nobody as a replacement.

since all the former players came out in favor of him right after Muschamp was fired.

Players came out in support of Matt Luke at Ole Miss too.

Are you trying to defend these move by your AD or something? Seems like a fools errand, but be my guest.

Maybe the sane thing that will will come out of COVID is that football across the board will get put back in its place.

I still enjoy it, though I am completely weened off the NFLosers these days.

But back to college, if we see the salaries get reined in some and the players go back to being students first, that will be fine with me.

Whereas, my priority on Saturday’s was CFB now it is no longer. I will watch but almost every Saturday this fall, I have found other enjoyable activities to do that don’t include football.

I like Shane Beamer and think he will do a fine job at USCe. I wish him all the best.

The best sleeper hire so far is USM hiring Will Hall. I predict he will rebuild their program and will be a SEC HC within 5 years.

Here's the truth of the deal...if he loses...he doesn't get much...if he wins...he's damn steal. I have seen too many "can't miss" guys fall to the way side to get too upset about this hire. They ALL have to prove themselves at a new school...so..play ball !!!!!!!

I agree and smart but I would say USC pulled the trigger too soon. Would be interested in how extensive that coaching search was.

Which school got the better HC from last year? Missouri, Ole Miss, MSU or Arkansas?

Missouri is paying Drinkwitz 4 million a year. So South carolina wouldn't have gotten him. That is why either you ponied up or you get a lesser one that might not worked out as well and the one that turned you down for wanted to pay a lot less to be the HC.

How did he do it? I thought it was the same? Or was it he wanted millions more per year to get an extension?

His base salary when first hired was 3.5. It went up to a base of 4 after the 2018 season and then 6 after last year. He did cash in on a 5 million dollar life insurance policy as part of his most recent contract that brings the total value of the contract to 7 million/year on his new deal.

I would say the jury is out on that one. This year is not really set as a good comparison on that. Arkansas definitely improved considerably. Missouri has had a good season. OM has had good year as well. State by far is the worst of the bunch record wise but we have played better the last two games. If we somehow beat Auburn and Mizzou to close out the season then I would say all four have gotten decent results after one season.

After 2025, we can look back and see who made the best hire.
