Remember that time conference realignment was a thing and the Texas Governor and Lt. Governor were from Baylor and Tech?

This ain’t that time.

Texas Tech is very likely to get gobbled up as the Eastern extent of the Pacific conference.

Kansas is very likely to get gobbled up by the Big Ten.

West Virginia is very likely to get gobbled up by the ACC to be their 16th team once Notre Dame realizes which way the wind is blowing (big super conference saturday ticket streaming services).

Oklahoma State, Texas Christian, Baylor, Kansas State, and Iowa State are in a state of utter precariousness right now.

With that the Big 12's only move would be to add SMU, Houston, Cincinnati, Memphis, Rice, UCF, UTEP, Colorado State, and other after thoughts just to stay viable.

Thinking about it more. The discards from the Big-12 may be to do something to string together a AAC type conference with Houston from the AAC and some of the best pieces of the Sun Belt and CUSA.

It is definitely going to be a 2nd class citizen compared to what shakes out with the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC. Maybe even 3rd class because the Pac-12 is going to expand somehow likely pulling TTU and some of the best pieces of the MWC.

WVU already was turned down by the ACC when they begged.

This is a football world. KU is a basketball school. You don't need to be in a major conference to be a national contender in basketball.

With the expanded playoff this conference could easily see one team in the playoffs maybe two every so many years. I can picture a TCU or West Virginia or Oklahoma State dominating.

Houston and SMU and Cincy will be shoe ins - I'll be proud of Memphis if they get in that

UTEP is on the brink of bankruptcy

Rice? No. Rice needs to pray for an all academic conference of: Rice, Vanderbilt, Duke (won't happen), Georgia Tech (won't happen), Boston College (won't happen), Tulane, Air Force, Army, Navy, SMU (if they don't get into the new Big12), and a frickton of basketball only all academics

the football portion of this idea is weak as hell with probably only 6 members

Okay Jeff. It’s definitely in the best interests of the state for the legislature to dictate what sports conference UT is in. I’m sure he will be reminded of that as the Big 12 continues to flounder and fall behind.

It doesn’t matter

The horns have applauded and even encouraged legislators getting involved in this process in the past, this could be very entertaining

Right on schedule.

People thinking this would just happen smoothly are foolijg themselves. The Big 12 won't survive as a power conference, which means those left behind syand to lose A LOT of money. There will be a monumental effort to stop this move.

I’m interested in hearing how such a proposed bill would fit into the Governor’s special session topics
