I know people forget about it because UGA isn't a basketball school, but when you just look on paper at the whole thing..it really was one of the more remarkable feats in bball history and I'm not exaggerating. I think PTI and Around the Horn and all those other shows were even trying to rank it the following week on how "magical" or incredible or whatever it was. I doubt we see anything of that magnitude ever again.
And it wasn't just us winning, which in itself was almost miraculous. But to include a double header on one day thereby winning 3 games in 2 days, the tornado, and to top it off winning it in front of a few hundred fans on our biggest rival's home court? You can't write that kinda stuff.

I'll never forget motherfricker.

Our futility under Heath and especially Pelphrey has nothing to do with UK. It isn't like we were finishing 2nd to UK every year. A lot of that time we completely sucked.

Zac Swansey hit the shot of his life. He'll never forget that I'm sure.

Oh I'm sure. It was the most bizarre thing ever.

What makes it memorable was Gillispie crying to the media about how unfair it was for Kentucky to have to play a double header and how tired his guys were going to be and it was going to give an unfair advantage to who ever the played later that day, etc.
I can't remember, but IIRC someone else had to play twice that day too, but regardless he gave Georgia no chance at winning in the media then got his arse spanked... I bet he drank soooo much vodka that night.

Arkansas has made the tournament 12 times in the SEC, 10 of those times you didn't win the conference, of those 10 times, UK won the conference half that time. They certainly haven't helped.

According to this link, UGA is the only team that played twice in one day. On the 15th, Arkansas and UT played each other, as did UK/UGA with the winner then playing MSU.

I don't know. I kinda like Hog logic. "We'd be the best team in the nation if we didn't suck so much."
Maybe I should start a thread talking about how the Mizzou football program is actually better than Bama's because, well if our coaches weren't inferior and our players weren't inferior we would have beaten them every year.

It had more to do with Kentucky was set to take the court next when the tornado hit and ended up having to sit around half the damn night before they determined that UK's game wouldn't be played. It was even worse for the two teams that played into OT and had to resume at 10:30 at night after having to clear the court due to the tornado.
Really it was the NCAA that fricked the whole lot of us. There was a proposal made to let the semi-final winners be co-champions but the NCAA Selection Committee threw a hissy fit over it and refused to make any concessions because of the auto-bid.

K, all I remember from the UT/Ark game was Pel telling a UT thug to Shut the frick up during the game.

Sí. Coaching is our excuse for our recent suckitude, the worst stretch in our history. What's yours for Mizzou's epic failure of a basketball history?
BTW, no one in this thread has said "Arkansas > Kentucky" because that would be a ridiculous statement. We defended the strength of our program against SECtards.

Also, I'd give anything for the SEC to move the SEC Tournament back a day so that the Championship Game didn't fall on Selection Sunday. I don't remember the two teams involved but I specifically remember a NCAA Selection Committee member saying that a team that played well all the way up through the conference championship game didn't mean much because of the day our championship game fell on and they had "already made their mind up" at that point.
It was two years ago. UK manhandled Florida in the finals, but still got shafted by the tournament committee. We got put as the four seed in the same region as overall #1 seed Ohio State and UNC as a #2 seed while Florida was given a #2 seed in a region where the #1 seed Pitt choked once again in the second round. Of course, Florida couldn't handle the gift they were given and lost to Butler in the Elite Eight.
The committee admitted that they didn't factor in the SEC final because there is no way UK should have been a four seed that year.

This isn't even a question. A league title far outweighs tournament title.
