Okay, sorry Jed and others for the hijack. I stand by my pick as league championship is more important especially since the SEC didn't even have the SEC Tournament for several years and it was used as an autobid too.
Carry on.

Stupid example
Kentucky football has never sniffed the pinnacle of the sport, much less won anything.
You're making about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

Dont worry, everyone else completely understands but that type of logic throws a monkey wrench into the hogvillian chain of logic the hog lot are taught.

fact is, there were a lot of really, really good SEC basketball teams that didn't have a shot at a tournament, because we were vying for one spot with the best basketball program of all time.
Teams that could have easily made a nice run in the tournament.
Obviously it's all in hindsight but it'd be interesting to see what could've happened in the 20 some odd years the SEC didn't have a SEC Tournament.

What do you all think about the unbalanced schedules?
Im not a fan but I dont know what else an work. I dont like divisions in Basketball either when the only postseason is the SEC tourney.

it's better than it was a few years ago, where the east had to battle each other week in and week out, while the West was suiting up for home and away pillow romps.

It's different. We only play some teams once, we normally play twice. I like that we play Mizzou twice, but we lose a game with Ole Miss and Bama.
Going forward, an extra game against Mizzou helps our SOS vs. playing either one of those again.

I don't think there's ever going to be an easy solution because of the current TV contract and the number of teams in conference now. There was a lot of bitching about turnarounds between games (especially from Vandy's Stallings about Kentucky) but the reality was that ESPN wanted Kentucky on TV as much as possible. You're basically playing when they tell you to play.
The issue you ran into with divisions is that the SEC was shooting itself in the foot in regards to getting teams into the NCAA Tournament and seeding. I do like the expansion of the SEC tournament to give everyone a shot at possibly getting into the NCAA Tournament.

Also, State fans are probably the only ones sad to see divisions go away

I believe Stansbury was the only one to vote against it when they voted if I recall correctly.

It's the only way he held onto his job as long as he did.

As for the Arkansas SWC/SEC debate.
Arkansas won the SWC league title 8 times in their last 20 years in the SWC. Arkansas has won the SEC league title 2 times in their first 20 years in the SEC.

Oh frick off. Arkansas won 18 of its first 19 games against LSU when we joined the league. Arguable the best era of Dale Brown ball was shat on by Oliver Miller.

We've been over this. Sucks that the SEC hired Heath and Pelphrey for us.

Also, I'd give anything for the SEC to move the SEC Tournament back a day so that the Championship Game didn't fall on Selection Sunday. I don't remember the two teams involved but I specifically remember a NCAA Selection Committee member saying that a team that played well all the way up through the conference championship game didn't mean much because of the day our championship game fell on and they had "already made their mind up" at that point.

Or really sucks you had to compete against the #1/#2 all time NCAA basketball program all of a sudden while i nthe SWC the basketball competition up top wasn't even close to UK. It's not like UK has been down for long in your tenure here, they have won 9 of the last 20 SEC Championships.
