Interesting baseball nugget: The SEC is implementing a 10-run mercy rule in conference play this year. If a team is up by 10+ through seven innings, the game is over.

I guess this doesn't apply to super regional games at Tennessee. So the Vols at least get to finish their games, if they host again.

This is a stupid rule, especially in college baseball where offenses can explode at any time. It makes sense in the SECT when they have to squeeze a lot of games into a small window of time, but in every game? FOH

Tennessee’s baseball players are gonna let down Tennessee’s coaches and fans again this year.

Does it also mean any SEC teams who win the regular season and tournament championships the same year will choke at home in their Super Regionals? Because if that’s the case then they already made this rule back in 2021

Try winning your first game vs the BaseVOLS in several years before run ruling them, lol

Would that be part of the same rule where you have a great regular season just to choke when it counts?

They’ve had it for a couple of years now.

Doubt it. There is enough talent on that team to keep that from happing. Have you seen UT pitching staff? They have 3 of the top pitcher in the country in starting rotation. UT mid weeks guys would start on weekends for most teams.

Interesting. I am not opposed to a run rule in college ball. That being said a great bullpen or more importantly not having a bullpen separates the best teams.
Probably should have made it a 15 run rule.

Last 2 series between LSU and UT is split. UT swept in 2021 and LSU swept in 18. The other seasons they didn’t play a series

This should be implemented at all levels of baseball. The games are already too long and too boring.

I can’t wait to implement this new rule when you visit Baum this year.

Do you really feel like you are going to get run ruled that often? Sheesh! Also, BaseVOL may be the gayest nickname in all of sports.
