Yes, those games, too would be an annual feature. It's just not as difficult to make those happen as it is that cluster involving Bama, Auburn, UGA, UF, and UT.

Assuming they don't play every year, you're swapping that for more Bama-UGA, Bama-UF and LSU-UGA, LSU-Tennessee matchups.

But, that's the problem with pods as opposed to 3/6 no division plan. In the 3/6 plan, you'd see those matchups every other year. Because the SEC's pod plan would also involve permanent opponents, you'd only see non-pod or non-permanent opponents once every 3 years.

That's one reason why 3/6 beats pods.

Correct answer, the 3/6 allows you to keep the historic non-negotiable rival games and gives you more flexibility to 1) get more big-time match ups and maintain basic scheduling equity and 2) do what Commissioner Sankey stated, have teams rotating through all the SEC member schools on a shorter basis.

The 3 permanent / 6 rotating format allows every team in the 16 team SEC to play ever other team Home and Home in a 4 year period.

In theory you could, but are they going to cut out a game. With a current 12 game schedule, that SEC tourney is means 2 teams are playing 2 more games to get to 14. If you have a playoff of 8, that means somebody is playing 17 games (an SEC team that goes to title game, maybe 2 if you have an LSU/Bama, UGA/BAMA situation like 2011 and 2017).

If you stay at 12 games then it's only 3 extra games for 2 teams. That is already happening.

I love the pod system. And to be fair to everyone else; if we are forcing UA/AU/UGA/UT to play every year, then those schools should be in a pod together. Would be crazy hard, but we shouldn't slow everyone else down because of current streaks.

The 4 team division you are proposing is not going to fly. Commissioner Sankey has already tipped his hand on what is the objective he wants for scheduling, which is for every SEC member team in every sport to play every other SEC team during their tenure as a student-athlete.

The 3 permanent and 6 Rotation for football accomplishes the objective he wants and maintains all the historic rival games that have always been deemed as non negotiable in the SEC. In addition, the old rival games from the SWC can be brought back.

Texas gets Texas A&M (you all), OU and Arkansas. There Red River game and their 2 biggest rivals from the old SWC.

Arkansas can get Texas and Texas A&M (u all) which gives them their 2 biggest old SWC games and gives them a yearly footprint in playing in Texas.

Obviously, the Bama/Auburn/Flordia/TENN games are all maintained, Bama/Auburn, Bama/TENN, Auburn/UGA and UGA/Florida. So the old time fans from those schools have nothing to complain about there.

The Egg Bowl can be maintained,

How do you get a 4 team division with any semblance of balance? You can't

Are you forcing them to play every year or are those games that have always been in every expansion of the SEC games that those fan bases have said can't be changed?

What is the difference in a POD of 4 teams or 3 team Permanent opponent format in substance? there is none, it is just form.

Why would you have a five team pod?

And if you honestly believe Texas was ''assured'' of anything, especially something this important to the entire league....this is not the old SWV or the Big 12.

What Texas wants, Texas gets.
