Are yall reading this the same way? The PODS or some type of permanent rivals yearly/rotate everyone else (not too dissimilar than SEC bball) are clearly the easiest ways to play everyone the most often.

Most likely: 9 SEC games (4-5 SEC home games alternate years); no divisions or pods (equitable SOSs); 3 fixed opponents (rivals) and rotate the other 12 opponents in 6 schedule slots (playing all 12 twice within 4 years); 2 teams with best SEC W-L records play in the SEC title game. Playing 9 SEC games and 3 non-SEC games still allows for 7-8 total home games and the GA-GT, FL-FSU, SC-Clemson, UK-Louisville rivalry games.

Fixed opponents:
AL - AU, TN, LS
AR - MO, AM, TX
AU - AL, GA, MS
FL - GA, LS, MS
GA - AU, FL, SC
KY - SC, TN, VB
LS - AL, FL, AM
OM - MS, MO, OK
MS - AU, FL, OM
MO - AR, OK, OM
OK - MO, OM, TX
SC - GA, KY, VB
TN - AL, KY, VB
AM - AR, LS, TX
TX - AR, OK, AM
VB - SC, KY, TN

I said it would be a POD system but no one believed me. The reason I knew we would have the PODs was because Texas was assured that the divisional setup would be done away with and replaced with a rotational schedule so Texas would be able to play all the SEC schools regularly.

Four Divisions:

SEC North
SEC East
SEC West
SEC South

Easy.

Pods likely leaves several teams pissed about loss of rivalries and leaves a few teams with pretty weak groupings of "permanent opponents". The 3 permanent, 6 rotating seems to be the best compromise option that still gets every team home and away over a 4 year period.

Instead of Pods (but similar), I think we'll go to 9 SEC games, 3 permanent opponents (rivals) and rotate the other 12 opponents in 6 schedule slots (playing twice in 4 years). Two teams with best SEC W-L records play in SEC title game.

Great minds

False. Pods with 3 perm opponents takes care of that.

I seriously doubt Georgia has played more than five or six games west of the Mississippi River in their entire existence.

Email him back.

Auburn’s pod should be:
Kentucky - getting a good basketball rivalry going lately.
Vanderbilt - need to catch up in the series from a half a century ago.
Missouri - I enjoyed that SEC championship game very much.
Arkansas - one of my favorite road trips.

I 100% agree with this comment about rotating teams through campuses. Georgia has still yet to come to Kyle Field and we've been here a decade now.

BAMA and the barn to the east, 9 game SEC schedule, and now no need for even one cross-division rival.

How fast do you want to go?

I don't think pods work if you're trying to preserve the SEC title game. I mean I'm not sure what their purpose would be. I'm thinking probably every team has 2-3 permanent rivals and then you rotate through the rest of the league. No divisions. Top two finishers to SEC title game.

Texas don't beg. Del Conte picked up the phone and told Sankey we were coming and that was that.
