Casey Mize
2.00 ERA
7-1 Record
.164 OBA
63.0 IP
2 CG
86 K's
4 BB's

That's my vote. Kilkenny only has 52 K's to 16 BB's. That should be added.

India is probably the best player in the country. Dude is batting over .500 in SEC play so far. So def agree with him and don't see anyone catching him.

Pitcher of the year will come down to Mize and Kilhenny, more than likely, and I think Mize will end up winning it.

Mize has the name recognition and better stuff. He'll be more likely to win it, but I think Trillkenny has earned it as well.

86/4 is absolutely insane K/BB ratio at any level.

I'll add another to the mix and likely candidate for SEC Freshman of the Year

Ma'Khail Hilliard
7-2
1.72 ERA
46.1 IP
47 K
15 BB
.200 OPP/BA

Zack Hess had a terrible first outing where he gave up 8 runs in 2.1 IP. Since his first start, he has gone:
6-2
2.47 ERA
51 IP
66 Ks
19 BBs
.180 PP/BA (even with his first outing this number is .194)

Yes that is absurd. That's an even better ratio than Aaron Nola and he was the best I can remember in that regard for a starting pitcher in this conference the past 5-10 years. And Mize put up equally absurd numbers last year with 109 Ks to only 9 BBs

Some SEC only stats.

India
6 HR (leads SEC)
3 Triples (leads SEC)
21 Runs (leads SEC)
14 RBI (6th in SEC)
53 Total Bases (leads SEC)
.629 OBP (leads SEC)
1.000 SLUG (leads SEC)
1.629 OPS (now this is just getting stupid)

Edit: Found more stats

Kilkenny 4-0, 1.67 ERA, .215 OBA, 31.2 IP, 26 H, 13 BB, 23 SO, 1 CG, 3 HR
Mize 3-1, 1.91 ERA, .191 OBA, 37.2 IP, 27 H, 1 BB, 48 SO, 1 CG, 3 HR

Great #s, but I can't see a closer being in contention with so many great starters in the mix.

Pretty cut and dry at the moment. It's India and Mize.

I agree, but he isn't your typical closer. We have started bringing him in to pitch the 8th and 9th and sometimes an out of two in the 7th if things get dicey. How many closers have pitched 32 innings already with zero starts?

Is it though? Kilkenny has a better record and ERA in and out of conference.

Its too bad there isn't a site that tracks more analytical stuff for college ball. Soft contact rates, FIP, xFIP, SIERA, etc.
