Emmitt Smith's durability, his ability to play hurt, his longevity, and the numbers/rings point to Emmitt being the GOAT.
"His career signature game came in the season finale against the New York Giants, with the Cowboys desperately trying to clinch the NFC East title and a first-round bye in the playoffs, Smith suffered a first-degree separation in his right shoulder during the first half, but still finished with 229 total yards and played a key role in a 16–13 overtime win."

They don't make them like Emmitt anymore. Hell, they didn't make them like Emmitt before, either.

If Barry Sanders ran behind the Dallas cowboys line, he wouldve rushed for 250 a game easy.

Barry Sanders is the best RB to ever play NFL football!

He should have been traded to smash then Peyton’s record which ESmith now has

Nothing against Barry, put I'd rather have a Jim Brown or Larry Czonka type back who gets me 5 yards on every play for sure. Yes, Barry made the spectacular play, run around in the backfield, reverse field and go 65 yards to the 5, then he couldn't pound it in easily per se so they get 3.
OR
He does his reverse field run and looses 5-10 yards, leading to punts. So, you can't 190 yards, and that doesn't mean you are a guy who can sustain drives. Thus my point on why I would rather have a 5 yards a play every play type back. Stats look great when you put in those 65, 55 and 45 yard runs, but then drives stall.
He never won anything for a reason.

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (1989)
6× First-team All-Pro (1989–1991, 1994, 1995, 1997)
4× Second-team All-Pro (1992, 1993, 1996, 1998)
10× Pro Bowl (1989–1998)
4× NFL rushing yards leader (1990, 1994, 1996, 1997)
NFL rushing touchdowns leader (1991)
REALLY?
He endured the unfortunate path of playing on a mediocre to poor team during his NFL career.

Very idiotic take.
Jim Brown and Larry Czonka played against defensive linemen and LBs that were their size or smaller. They'd drag linemen down the field.
By the time Sanders and Smith got to the NFL DL and LBs were much bigger.

Curtis Luper only overlapped with Barry Sanders in 1986, before Sanders was the starter. Regardless, that's still interesting, (to me at least) because Curtis Luper is Missouri's RB coach.
That 1986 OSU team also had Thurman Thomas starting at RB and Mike Gundy starting at QB. They still only went 6-5,having to beat KU, KSU and MU (combined record 8-25) down the stretch to get to 6 wins.

GOAT he might be. But I always think of Earl Campbell. Both of them were MEN amongst boys. No doubt. And Earl Campbell is one of the greatest human beings you’ll see.

Eric Dickerson is the goat. Got Texas A&M boosters to buy him a Trans Am and then commits to SMU.

I had no idea Barry was that painfully shy back then.

Completely agree. He was a nightmare once he got to the second level, but that usually took some improvisation on his part due to missed blocks.

I was a jr. high kid in Maize Kansas when Barry was at North High. I got to watch him then. It was insane how much better he was than every other kid on the field. Every step of the way you expected that to get a little harder. But it never did. Barry was always just on another level. For what it's worth, his high school team was terrible if I recall correctly.
