What's better for business? "This guy shot himself" or "someone shot this guy outside my bar"

Same bar owner was claiming yesterday that it happened at a gas station and not in his parking lot

Owner using the policy of CYA. Bar is known for violence, shootings and even a murder a year or so ago.

Sorry, but what bar owner is going to shut down an hour early with over 300 patrons when $3 drinks are being sold? SERIOUSLY?

Way more than Alaska.

In fact, it is the norm rather than the exception.

Here's a wiki page that gives a quick overview and here's a pro gun control site that gives more detail.

Not his fault. Didn't have AC in his childhood home.

It's illegal to consume alcohol while carrying a firearm. Many states leave having the gun on the premises of an establishment that serves alcohol up to the business owner but it still wouldn't be "unlawful." Simply having a gun in a bar isn't, in and of itself, illegal necessarily.

So he shooting in the air and shot himself in the leg. Was he doing a handstand? Gee, I wonder why the bar owner would want people to think this, couldn't be anything to do with liability

TIL:

1. People don't realize how easy it is to shoot yourself with a handgun

2. Pack heat when going out in Alabama

I'm concerned with his decision making abilities. If I shot myself I would be out for the season with a big hole in my leg. Who the frick carries FMJ in their 9mm?

People don't realize how easy it is to shoot yourself with SOME handguns.

Glocks and those with similar no-safety, minimal weight trigger pull designs in particular.

It is relatively difficult to frick up a revolver or semi-auto that isn't striker-fired (or has an actual safety).

No, see you don't understand.

He was on his way to the range, and being a frugal individual, was using FMJ instead of more expensive rounds.

I wouldn't be surprised.

But are there no adults around here?

Nodody has questioned that the bar owner might not want people to believe that his shitty bar has shootouts near it?

Yep. Bar owner is in CYA mode. It's getting publicized nationally. "Yeah, uhh...he shot himself. Yeah, that's the ticket. That's the rumor you know. This bar is safe. Yeah."

Also, this thread needs more air-conditioner references. Because it's funny to see mainly LSU fans criticize what a dumbass Louisiana judge said.

I love how the bar owner, who is clearly covering his own arse as his establishment is known for violence, starts a rumor and most people on this board take it as fact and run with it. This is the same bar owner who also said the shooting wasn't even at his club.

Even if he did shoot himself in the leg by being a dumbass in the parking lot...what would it really change? It's not illegal to carry a gun, and there's no evidence or way to prove he had it in the bar. I guess they could slap him with a reckless endangerment charge. Is that a misdemeanor or a felony in AL?
