So many words and numbers uttered to show such pride in covid season stats and a player who's now a career backup in the NFL

hope you're proud of yourself and excited to now go 6 years without a natty

Now you got it, Einstein. And none of those record-breaking numbers were against the sisters of the poor. 13 games against the big boys vs 16 games vs teams who couldn't fill our 2nd and 3rd teams in talent. That Mac Jones.

I'm not the one trying to pretend and entire season of football never happened.

Cancel culture and LSU, the match no one expected.

You'll never convince me the National Title game isn't a very different game if Ohio State plays a full schedule. Their schedule was constantly "start-stop" due to the Big 10 rules, so it would've been impossible for any Big 10 team to get real momentum.

Plus any arguments of "getting more rest" is more than offset by having more game experience and being more battle hardened. Ohio State didn't even get to play Michigan in 2020. They also lost the opportunity to play Oregon in the non-conference, an Oregon team that won the Pac-12 that year.

There was nothing normal about that football season. And I absolutely believe, if Ohio State plays a normal schedule, that the National Title game is very different. I think Ohio State actually would've had a great chance to beat Alabama in that scenario

I could maybe buy the argument that 2020 Ohio State team would have had a much better chance to beat Alabama if their starting qb wasn't a bit banged up after the playoff win over Clemson but this makes no logical sense.

How does being more "battle hardened" by not playing extra games that could have potentially resulted in being even more banged up not to mention not having to play an extra couple of teams against teams capable of upsetting you a significant disadvantage? It isn't as if Ohio State didn't have plenty of momentum coming off a 21 point win over a very good Clemson team the game before.

You may never be able to be convinced that the 2020 Ohio State team wouldn't have had a great chance to beat Alabama under different circumstances that season but the bottom line is the two teams faced each other head to head and Alabama won convincingly. In fact, the Florida team that Alabama beat in the SEC title game two games before that put up much more of a fight against Alabama than that Ohio State team did in the national championship game that season

There is no asterisk, you just for some reason need to have the fantasy that there is one.

I think Bama’s 2020 title is as legit as anyone’s and have no problem with it.

However, I do think it is beyond stupid to put the GOAT conversation as some have done.

They were great in a difficult year but they are not in the same category as 2019 LSU.

Hell, I don’t think they were as good as 2019 Bama (or other great Saban teams at Bama)

I have no problem with 2019 LSU being in the conversation for greatest team in modern college football history. That team had one of the greatest seasons if not THE greatest season in modern college football history.

The 2019 LSU team arguably had the greatest offense season statistically against a tough schedule in modern college football history but to argue that the 2020 Alabama team is not in the same league is absurd.

I think what gets lost in all the chaos and weird circumstances surrounding the 2020 Covid season is just how good that 2020 Alabama team was statistically. As a matter of fact, that 2020 Alabama team compares very favorably with the 2019 LSU statistically.

Here's a statistical comparison of the 2020 Alabama and 2019 LSU teams:

Average points per game:

2020 Alabama - 48.46 ppg
2019 LSU - 48.4 ppg

Average points per game allowed:

2020 Alabama - 19.38 ppg
2019 LSU - 21.86 ppg

Average margin of victory:

2020 Alabama - 29.08 ppg
2019 LSU - 26.54 ppg

Granted, LSU put those offensive numbers up over 15 games as opposed to only 13 games in Alabama's case and did it in some tough road and neutral environments but it isn't as if LSU's 2019 offense put up offensive scoring numbers that clearly blew away the offensive scoring numbers that Alabama's 2020 offense put up. The main difference between the two teams that make it seem as if the LSU offense was head and shoulders better offensively than Alabama's 2020 offense was the incredibly dominant and historic season that Joe Burrow had statistically along with the fact that Alabama's 2020 offense didn't lean quite as heavily on Mac Jones as LSU leaned on Joe Burrow.

Bottom line is that the 2019 LSU team and the 2020 Alabama team were much more similar statistically than many LSU fans realize or care to admit.

I'd still give a slight nod to the 2019 LSU team over the 2020 Alabama team based on doing what they did in full stadiums and some tough road environments but it's still close

And you discount Mac Jones making a pro bowl. But since 2020 only 24 quarterbacks have made a pro bowl. Mac Jones is one of them.

You conveniently left out that Jones was named to the 2022 Pro Bowl as an alternate after several quarterbacks ahead of him were unavailable.

The original AFC quarterback selections were Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Lamar Jackson. Lamar was dealing with an ankle injury, Mahomes and Herbert opted not to participate, Josh Allen declined an invitation, and Joe Burrow was preparing for the Super Bowl.

So yes, Mac Jones technically made a Pro Bowl. But presenting it like he was one of the three quarterbacks originally selected is pretty misleading. He was an alternate who got in after a significant number of quarterbacks ahead of him were unavailable.

Kiffin is 0-5 against Alabama. Deboer is 2-0 against LSU.

Eta: you of all people should know what it looks like when a team with opt outs plays a team with no opt outs (Georgia vs FSU)
This is simply incorrect. UGA had several opt-outs as well as injuries. It was clearly not as much as FSU, but the broader reason they got their doors blown off was that we decided to care and they decided to play victim.

Well that's why it's 2026, new season and Coach Kiffin, Coach CWJ, Coach Baker and Co are coaching LSU

But enjoy having Kalen Dubose as your coach with zero running game for the future, sounds fun!
