It was a foul, no question about it. Refs have a tendency to swallow their whistles at the end of the game, but that was blatant. If the defender initiates contact that inhibits the shooter, it's a defensive foul, period.

You're just going to get housed on the road in the SEC. Happens to everybody. That wasn't even close to the worst call of the game.
The main reason we lost though is almost too fricking obvious to mention. We just can't rebound. If we could have just rebounded somewhat competently we win.

it wasnt that bad. the defender did jump towards him but he landed next to lacey. lacey initiated the contact from there. it really could have been called either way and been fine. certainly wasnt a cut and dry bad call though.

That was the slowest developing 10 second play he could have called. That loss is on Grant and Steele. I cringe every time he has the ball, slow motion.

Good no call. He got the defender in the air, but didn't initiate contact until the defender was back on the ground. He the leaned into the defender, but it was too late to get the call.

Agree except I think it shouldve been a foul, because lacey tried to draw it, but he just did a terrible job of it. He waited too long to jump and shoot so that he had to jump into the defender and then because of that couldnt get a shot off so it almost made it seem like he couldve been blocked or had the ball tied up.
It just didnt look good if you are trying to sell it

Yes, definite foul on Stokes. Bad call. However, the play call was just as bad. Down one, you need to shoot with about 4 seconds left to give yourself a shot at an offensive rebound and putback if the shot is missed.

I think Gottfried missed the tourney 3 years in a row before he got canned, but he was also riding his early success which Grant has yet to achieve any.
