That game was so incredible on multiple levels.

Everyone knew it would be a while before they got to see Georgia play for a championship again.

I wonder why the 2011 NC game wasn't more highly rated then.

Just shows you the drawing power that the Georgia brand has.

that one is easy. The game had already been played. While EVERYONE knew the game was pretty much a toss up which would normally mean great ratings, the previous game was offensively lifeless. Missed field goals and lethargic drives due to GOAT level defenses.
I think SEC fatigue is a bit of a factor.... but if ANY teams had previously played to a 9-6 overtime bleh and were meeting again, very few people would be interested in watching anything more than the 4th quarter.

I mean.... LSU has played for 3 national titles in recent memory.
Georgia's last title is 5 years older than Teddy Ruxpin.

Virgil Caine is the name and I served on the Danville train
'Til Stoneman's cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the winter of '65, we were hungry, just barely alive
By May the tenth, Richmond had fell
It's a time I remember, oh so well

Word of the day - decade
UGA has a 3 decade drought, LSU has a one decade drought.
Different, yet the same

And, how long has it been since LSU played for one? I can't remember.

And who has played for the more recent one? And, which team do you think is closer to playing for one sooner?

More like you hadn’t played in a Championship game in over a generation. It was your one chance and in typical Georgia fashion you blew it.
