Shhhhh...don't tell Bama fans this. They apparently don't think this is possible, since they keep throwing up that they beat UGA back at the beginning of the season and then both programs went in totally different directions after that.

No one is claiming that.

We just find it amusing when the "entire body of work" crowd turns into the "only the hot team" crowd because it supports their biases.

I think this is how I would rank the 3 SEC teams..

1 Ole Miss
Above SC due to H2H victory by 24 points
Above Alabama because of Margin over 4 common ranked opps (+51)
SC +24, LSU -3, OU +12, Georgia +18 (3-1 record)

2 Alabama
Above SC due to H2H victory by 2 points
Below Ole Miss because of Margin over 4 common ranked opps (+17)
SC +2, LSU +29, Georgia +7, OU -21 (3-1 record)

3 South Carolina 0-2
Below Ole Miss and Alabama because of H2H (0-2)

I don't know how to compare them against Miami.

Miami > Ole Miss?
Miami beat Florida.
Florida beat Ole MIss.

Miami > Alabama? (maybe, but this is a weak argument)
Miami beat South Florida by 35 points.
Alabama beat South Florida by 26 points.

There really isn't a way that I see to compare Miami and South Carolina.

Advantage: Alabama
They are rated highest in pretty much every computer poll.. combine that with TV ratings.. and they will pick Alabama.

If SMU beats Clemson, Alabama is in.
If Clemson beats Alabama, SMU is still in.

Bama and Ole miss got worse.

did they?

Ole Miss' biggest blemish was a September loss and their biggest achievement was a November win

Alabama's most impressive weeks of football were played at the end of the season. They had wtf games both early and late in the season

I wouldn't say either team "got worse"

Bama
Ole Miss

Coin flip really there. Bama has more good wins, worst loss. I’d be fine with either.

South Carolina - lost to both Ole Miss and Bama, both of whom beat Georgia.

Not lost on this conversation is should South Carolina get in, Three teams would have wins over two different teams who are in. Bama, Ole Miss and Ohio State. That is the main reason for me South Carolina is 3rd.

Edit - correction, forgot Georgia has 2 wins over playoff teams.

Finally, not close

Miami

OM lost to Florida and Alabama lost to Oklahoma last week. Seems like that’s not impressive or the best at the end of the season.

Ole Miss lost to the worst team in the SEC in the first half of the season. They beat a top 5 team 3 weeks ago. That sounds like they played worse earlier more so than they did late.

Alabama went on a three week run of outscoring opponents 128-20 from October 26 through November 16. That's at the end of the season and the best they looked all season. Like I said, they had an embarrassing loss early (Vandy) and an embarrassing loss late (Oklahoma)

Neither team started on fire only to fall apart down the stretch. That would be what Ole Miss did in 2022.

Alabama was a 14 pt favorite and only put up 3 points. Ole Miss was a 13 point favorite. Both lost.

and? This is about them getting worse than they were earlier in the season. Alabama was a 22.5 favorite against Vandy. Ole Miss was a 15.5 favorite against Kentucky. They lost those games in the first half of the season.

Ole Miss was a 3.5 point home dog to UGA, they won. ALabama was a 14 point favorite to Missouri and they won by 34. They were a 2.5 point favorite to LSU and won by 29. Those games happened in the second half of the season...you know that stretch of football I said was the best they played all season...

I don't think you even understand what you're arguing

Based on feelings? Vibes? Ole Miss and bama both beat them. Ole miss wrecked USC.

I know college football is all about feelings instead of metrics. If this season does anything I hope it forces the committee to release the metrics they use so we don’t end up picking teams based on vibes and feelings like half of y’all are. I’m in no way saying ole miss deserves a spot but if ole miss fully healthy lines up against USC fully healthy it would be an ole miss blow out again.

I bet USC, bama, and ole miss along with every other SEC would take those released metrics seriously when scheduling, game planning, etc. right now all of those coaches are yelling at air trying to fight for their schools with nothing to grasp.

Bama
OM
SC

Miami

All three of the SEC teams would beat the Canes. SC is only third because they lost to the other two. They’ve played better ball down the stretch but head to head can’t just be ignored either.

Someone should tell you about the rest of the season matters not just the weeks you want to fixate upon

Ranked by who could make a run and win the whole thing.

1. Ole Miss
2. Alabama, might be one if I thought Milroe could play four high level games in a row.

Gap
3. South Carolina

Much bigger gap
4. Miami

didn't know the other "potential" spot is against Oklahoma.

Weird.

OU > Alabama > LSU > South Carolina
Kentucky > Ole Miss > Georgia > Texas
Auburn > Texas A&M > Florida > LSU
Vandy > Alabama > LSU > Ole Miss

Oklahoma, Kentucky, Auburn and Vandy should clearly be the SEC teams going to the playoffs. It is science.
