Ross Piersbacher will be at center, which opens up a spot at RG. Replacing Jackson won't be nearly as hard IMO due to Jackson's struggles. He actually finished with a negative grading on PFF in pass protection.

The only question for me isn't about talent. I think we are in a great position to win it all with our talent. But are they hungry? Are they willing to push themselves to excellence - OR - will they act like a bunch of entitled kids?

If they are hungry, we will win it all.

Our offensive line talent/depth is back to pre-Stoutland levels. Of course, those guys have to produce, but the depth chart is filled with guys who should be able to be average to above average SEC linemen if called upon. Much better than the 2012-2015 dearth of depth.

Left Tackle
Cam Robinson - JR (5-star)
Jonah Williams - FR (5-star)

Left Guard
Bradley Bozeman - SR (3-star)
Dallas Warmack - RFR (4-star)

Center
Ross Pierschbacher - RSO (4-star)
JC Hassenauer - RSO (4-star)
Josh Casher - RSO (4-star)
Brandon Kennedy - RFR (4-star)

Right Guard
Alphonse Taylor - SR (4-star)
Richie Petitbon - RFR (4-star)
Scott Lashley - FR (4-star)

Right Tackle
Lester Cotton - SO (4-star)
Charles Baldwin - JR (4-star)
Matt Womack - RFR (3-star)

And a lot of those guys are athletic enough to move around between guard/tackle. We basically have 5-6 tackles who can also play guard, and our guards are athletic enough to play center (like Ross P).

I'm excited to see how they mix and match there. Glad to have talent and depth again.

Doesn't matter, does it?

the truth is Alabama can afford to lose one game and make the playoffs (except possibly the SECCG). Ole Miss did Alabama a favor (one of several) last year by winning. The loss brought focus to the team.

The thing is Bama's schedule really does not favor them this year.

I believe Bama had the toughest schedule last year, but
i see what you saying.

Multiple sites rated Bama's schedule last year as toughest in the nation...and a couple had it as the toughest in many years...

That being said, this season's schedule will likely be rough as they will face, what would appear at this point as, one of the tougher SEC road schedules (at Ole Miss, at Arkansas, at Tennessee, and at LSU)...

This is the main issue. Bama has more talent and better coaching than anyone else in the conference. However, that doesn't necessarily translate into wins. Most of the time we can out-talent and out-muscle the other guy just based on the disparity between the teams...but not always...see Ole Miss and Tennessee who caught us at a vulnerable point on our schedule and took us to the wire.

It's the intangibles that separate the two. Last year's team had the best team chemistry I have seen since 2009. They have to have a "want" as Les Miles would say. This will be dependent in large part of course who steps up to captain the defense and who takes the helm at QB.

Saban shows a propensity to drop a game as its increasingly difficult to get through SEC conference play completely unscathed. However, Bama can take a loss and get into the playoffs if we win the SEC. Clemson was the only undefeated P5 team left standing last year going into the playoffs.

Only potential loss this year is to LSU. We out talent or out coach every other team by a large gap.

Undefeated for Bama it is then.

obviously not, when it comes to the big picture for Bama...but the OP was about how all the pieces are in place for the Crimson Tide his year, so in that light, it is a question I very much would be curious to hear the answer to. personally, I believe Ole Miss will handle Alabama in Oxford this season.

I think that we could lose to LSU, Ole Miss or Tennessee this year.

Alabama only loses to a very specific type of team
- Ranked (we have not lost to an unranked opponent since 2007)
- Good QB play

The teams on our schedule that fit that bill are the 3 above (LSU jury out on QB play, but they are better at all the other areas), and all 3 of them are road games.

I think it will be insanely difficult to win 12 games and lose 0. I'm not sure anyone from the West is going to do that again anytime soon. It's just too damned hard.

You can say this in most years. Bama will probably slip up against one team this year but still have a great shot of winning the NC.

It's really hard to argue with anyone with that logic. The only National Champs without a 1st year QB were us in 2012.......with the QB who was the 1st year QB in 2011.

National Champs
2015 - Alabama (1st year QB)
2014 - Ohio State (1st year QB)
2013 - Florida State (1st year QB) (Auburn as well)
2012 - Alabama (2nd year QB)
2011 - Alabama (1st year QB)
2010 - Auburn (1st year QB)
2009 - Alabama (1st year QB)

Auburn just needs a fast, big armed JuCo QB with under the radar accuracy to win.

At least you guys don't have any of those on campus oh gawd we're all screwed

Bama is in a good spot for sure but I'll believe Scarbo is another Henry when I see it.

I don't expect him to win the Heisman Trophy, but I think he will be an above-average to elite running back playing in a system with balance and very good offensive linemen.

If any other school was starting a guy at RB who was a former 5-star, Top 20 recruit they would say the same things and most would agree. Add to that our prior running backs numbers and I think it is a pretty fair bet that Bo will have a good career at Alabama if he stays healthy.
