How about college fans who could not give a shite about the NFL?

That’s fine, my friend. Do you have a NFL team that you pull for or are you strictly college football?

I used to like the NFL and was a Raiders fan, but not really much of a NFL fan at all anymore. Actually not as much of a college football fan anymore as I have been all my life. It’s starting to lot like professional leagues. Just all about the $$$$

My favorite is when I meet a Saints-Braves fan. Makes no dayum sense.

My grandparents we all Braves fans, but before the Braves moved to Atlanta they were Dodgers and Cardinals fans because that is who was on TV or radio for them to follow (no self respecting southerner was going to be a fan of the Yankees in the 1950s and 1960s).

When the Braves moved to Atlanta, they were the first team from any of the major professional leagues to be in the South, so it was a Southern pride thing, hence the large Braves following that exists throughout the South, even in Florida where there are two MLB teams they could pull for.

The Falcons and Saints joined the NFL within a year of each other, dividing NFL fans in the South.

But still, considering the Falcons/Saints rivalry, it is still kinda strange to see folks who pull for the Braves and Saints.

I live in Mobile which is 2 hours from the Superdome. I also pull for teams with Bama players, even including Detroit lol.

Probably a lot of bandwagoners who became fans of both during the late 2000's.

Mobile has been Saints country since New Orleans got a franchise, pretty much from Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, along the Mississippi Gulf coast up to Black Belts of Mississippi and Alabama is prime Saints territory. Despite producing several Hall of Famers in Baseball Mobile has never been a big baseball town.

Braves TBS Baseball is another big reason.

Like a lot of kids around me grew up Saints fans but also became Braves fans when cable TV became more widespread in the 80s.

Yeah, the late 2000s for Braves fans...

That's it. That is definitely when the Braves picked up a lot of bandwagon fans...

Holy shite, you're bringing back some sad memories of going to Braves games during that period. God bless Chipper Jones loyalty.

Pretty good amount of Cardinals fans too
Yeah, especially Arkansas and western TN, and that was the case long before the Cardinals put their AAA team in Memphis.

I grew up in West Alabama in the Meridian TV market and the Saints were the team we watched regularly. Only pro team I give a damn about. The 2009 season was glorious with both Bama and the Saints winning it all. Only downside of the season was losing my dad Thanksgiving weekend and not having him around to celebrate.

Bro I was spoiled. When I went to Braves games as a young child it was exciting to go to a game. I had no idea the Braves were dogshit. Dale Murphy was there and I got to see my childhood hero with my own eyes and not just on TBS.

I started paying attention to the records in 1989. Braves lost 97 games that year. In 1990, the Braves again lost 97 games and traded Murphy to the Phillies. My grandparents helped keep me loyal. Then 1991 and the rest is history, so the late 2000s weren't a problem.

And I know Chipper will in all likelihood be the last cradle to grave Brave, especially one that is a HOFer. I respect the hell out of the guy. Might go to a Hooters this weekend in his honor.

As others have mentioned the Saints fan base is pretty huge. It’s pretty much all Saints fans from at least BR to Pensacola so it makes sense that a lot of Bama and Ole Miss fans are Saints fans too.

1. Eff 'em both, if I'm pulling for an nfl team, go Jaguars.
2. Only because I spent 36 years in Jacksonville, and was there when the franchise was awarded and kicked off the first game against the Panthers.
3. I'd much rather watch the arena league Sharks, or the UFL Stallions... especially in person. Just like the lower tier baseball teams, they really try to involve the fans... ESPECIALLY the kids... ticket sales are really a lot of the lifeblood for those teams without all the merchandising and outlandish tv revenue. They try to make you want to come back.

Used to get up early in the morning during summer and my dad and grandad would drive us from Eutaw to Atlanta to watch the Braves play then back to Eutaw at night. Miss those days

Because Southwest Alabama is 2-2.5 hours from New Orleans and 4-5 hours from Atlanta?

Nobody in Alabama is really a fan of any nfl team. I personally can’t stand any Atlanta team.

I grew up on my mom's homeplace in Sumter County and my dad was from Greene County. In Birmingham now but frequently travel back home and prefer to take 11 through Eutaw instead of the interstate.
