Since you people are continually pushing that Sims is the better QB, I have compiled the stats. I included rushing and passing, Interceptions, and Completion % since you all seem to love cherry picking the stats that favor you. I'm not considering who has the better OL or the better WR's to throw to, just looking at the stats as objectively as possible.
Total Yards:
Dak: 3,935
Sims: 3,571
Total Yards/Game:
Dak: 327.9
Sims: 274.7
Total Touchdowns:
Dak: 38
Sims: 32
Total Touchdowns/Game:
Dak: 3.17
Sims: 2.46
Interceptions:
Dak: 10
Sims: 7
Completion Percentage:
Dak: 61.2
Sims: 64.8
Dak has more yards and TD's any way you slice it. Sims has fewer INT's and a higher completion percentage. Dak is obviously a bigger role in his offense than Sims is in his, due to running the ball more.
Notes on the two:
- Dak makes reads all the way across the field. Sims seems to be restricted to one section, only making reads when one target is underneath the other. This speaks to the QB's ability at his position, I think it was a smart move by Kiffin to make him focus more on being efficient in a small area rather than processing the entire field, especially fielding a relatively green QB.
- Sims has better targets, Cooper is a beast and a boost to any QB.
- Dak seems to be more prone to making risky decisions, at times tried to force throws that weren't there. Probably in part due to being a bigger role in his offense, pressure of heisman talk, doesn't matter, it is what it is.
- Sims team helped him out a lot with field position. I haven't checked the final numbers but Bama generally is right up there in the top of the nation in field position and I assume they were again this season.
- Both QB's averaged 250 Passing Yards/Game.

Dak fell off at the end of the year. He does have better stats, though.

Wins against LSU in 2014:
Dak: 1
Sims: 1
Dak: 1
Sims: 1

Dak's numbers vs bad teams are SUBSTANTIALLY better than his numbers vs good teams.
Dak is a very good QB. Sims had a great, storybook year. Congrats to Dak.

Sims has the clutch gene
Both made drives to win games, both lost games. The Sims INT in Oxford was pretty bad.

Also, Dak's rushing numbers are way better because Alabama has better backs and doesn't have to risk their QB's health the way State does.
I'd still vote for Dak because I think he's a better player overall.

Prescott has mostly better stats.
Sims is a champion and MVP.
Everyone is happy.

Dak Prescott is obviously a good QB. Blake Sims has the ring though.

Put up their numbers versus SEC competition. If I recall from a thread last week, those look to favor Sims.

#1 is just silly. Sims made plenty of great reads in huge spots in huge games.
#2 yes. Cooper is the best WR in CFB.
#3 Dak definitely made more risky decisions, and quite frankly I think overall he is less accurate than Sims, especially down the field.
#4 Per FEI's field position stat MSU was #24 and Alabama was #87. Field Position Advantage
#5 yep

Worthless argument
Bo > Dak/Sims on the field. Stats are for losers.

The Sims INT throw was a perfect throw that either his TE would catch or nobody would catch. His TE then alligator armed it like a vag and allowed the Ole Miss DB to pick it.

Well, yes and no. His numbers aren't really better, his negative impact plays are more common in big games. I will make the argument that he has to carry the team more against good teams. In the Bama and Ole Miss games he had huge outings passing the ball. Both games, especially the picks at Bama, screamed to me that he was trying to force things. I feel like we were in the position a few times where it was all him and he knew it, the second half of the Bama game was a pretty remarkable outing against that defense for any QB.

Please put up the stats vs. AP top 25 teams. Please.
No contest. Sims is better. Didn't even play much of the second half in many games.

That sort of "Bama QB is game manager" argument worked in past years, but it doesn't this year. This offense required Sims to make plays down the field and on play-action to be successful. I agree that Dak was required to do more overall than Sims, but Sims was the focal point of our offense. If he struggled, we struggled (see Arkansas and 3/4 of LSU). There was no dominant run game to sit back and let bleed things out.
