Bama fans, I’ve heard your run game isn’t as good as it usually is

What do you believe is the cause of this? Tua throwing it all over the yard? Less reliance on it? Run block not as good as usual? RB not as good as usual? I’ll be honest I haven’t seen any of your games this year.

People that you are listening to being ignorant.

but seriously, these are the answers:

and Najee is deadly catching passes out of the backfield. When we need yards with our run game, I have confidence that we will get them.

Bama 5.03 YPC
Lsu 4.54 YPC

They don't run it as often because they have such a prolific passing offense. But any rush O that averages over 5 YPC is pretty damn efficient.

I mean it’s not bad by any stretch, but yeah we emphasize the passing game more now. It’s hard to crank out running stats when your receivers keep taking it to the house every 5th play or so.

I will say that we lack a dynamic ultra quick threat like in the past (Kenyan Drake or Josh Jacobs for example). Najee Harris and Brian Robinson are both great backs but more on the bruiser side.

Let us also not forget that Najee was our best running option against LSU last year. Ran for like 13+ ypc.

So basically the same situation that we’re in, not that it’s taken a step back, but that passing has taken such a huge step forward.

I think the perception is due to two reasons

1) there is no highlight 70yd run. Keilan Robinson has one against NMSt? And he has that breakaway speed that Najee and Brian Robinson don't
2) first impressions. The first three games of the yr are different that the last 3 games. Najee, to me, has also become more direct of a runner..more getting up field and deliverjng a blow. I am amazed at his ability to maintain his balance after a hit

Add in passing proficiency (which does include the backs) that to me are the reasons for perception

But i think overall its pretty good. Tackling Najee or BRobinson is still pretty tough and when they need to eek out yards to keep the clocking moving....they seem to get them

Pretty much. They have the linemen and the RB's to have the same old smashmouth run game Bama has always had. But, the offense has changed.

I'm guessing this includes sacks.

Oline rotation has stabilized now that brown is back, and he is our best run blocker. We are not breaking many huge runs, but we are getting 5 yard chunks all the time, rarely have negative run plays, so complimenting our pass game perfectly. If you try to cheat we can easily hurt you on the ground 5-10 yards a pop

Even the most reasonable LSU posters become idiot or act like they don't watch any of Bama games, despite Scoreboard during the weekend telling a different story. Najee or Robinson gets off it won't be a close. We will get a lead and pound out 4 or 5 yards a carry.

Big Brown was out the first four games and him not being at guard stifled our run game. Since his return, we reshuffled the line and moved Leatherwood to his natural position at tackle. Brown's quickness and size allows us to pull him more and it opens holes for Najee. Compare the first four games to the last four and you'll see a significant difference.

Najee Harris' longest run is only 20 yards, but don't let that fool you.

Bama leads the nation in run plays of 5+ yards on first down with 63% i believe it is.

They are strong in the run when they need to be.
