Bama Fans, Do your Bars Cover Charge Gouge Every Friday Like They Did For LSU?

Every bar around the strip was at least $20 cover on Friday it seems. I heard Rounders was up to $40 cover. That's ridiculous.

Just wondering if this was specific for LSU weekend. I don't remember it being like that in 2011 the last time I was in Tuscaloosa for a game.

LSU specific, plus I'm guessing the rain added to it.

Bear Trap was only $10, though.

But really, I had a great time on Saturday. None of the bars were charging covers early in the day, so we pretty much just tailgated at bars. I know there were covers later on in the day and at night, though.

Yea it was a good time. Always is when LSU folks come to town.

Yeah we got in one place, Innisfree I think it was, early on Saturday morning, got a table under the covering outside and hung out there all day ordering drinks. It was fun.

We went to Gallettes for a couple of hours, and then went over to The Houndstooth until game time.

Houndstooth is really fun. We luckily got a table and just sat and drank and watched the 2:30 games.

It's not just for LSU, it's like that for pretty much every SEC game. It's ridiculous, but people pay it.

I try to avoid it but usually get dragged to places like Innisfree, and gallettes.

Why would you avoid either of those on game day? Both are awesome

As an ex manager of a college bar, more than likely, LSU had to do with it, but more because they bring a lot of people and big game. Big games usually mean more expensive entertainment(higher cover charge to pay for it). Also, the rate rises as the bar gets more packed

I can remember the first really big SEC game in Tuscaloosa after the 2nd expansion of the east upper deck was Tennessee in 99. They blocked off University Blvd and all the bars had at least a $10 cover on Friday night. Pretty sure they also relaxed open container enforcement that weekend.

I would avoid Gallettes on any day.

Their yellowhamer is good, but I wouldn't spend more than 5 minutes there.

We ended up wandering randomly in to "The Red Shed" on Friday and needless to say, we were the only LSU fans in there which made it interesting.

Only bar on the strip worth going to on game days is Egan's.

They must have got their q from Sugar Bowl and Bourbon Street.

I don't frequent the Tuscaloosa bars but that sounds like robbery. They also know how Louisiana folks like to party.
