Like I said before Bama is irrelevant now

Yeah, the throngs of LSU fans celebrating clearly demonstrates this.

They have a coach who wants to be your friend type - won’t work at Bama. Shula type black cloud era coming.

Think you might be right, but he needs a competent QB before making this definitive.

Even in our “3 Mikes and a Fran” years, we still won ten games at least once with every coach that actually coached a season (i.e. Mike Price didn’t because he didn’t coach a game). People act like we’re going to become AU, but I’m not sure we’ve ever had 3 losing seasons in a row let alone 4.

How can you have that much talent, and lose that many games?

Because our QB room is apparently terrible. We've had 4 OC in the past 5 years and Milroe was recruited by Sark and that type of offense.

We had a 5 star QB recruited in last years class, but he transferred when Saban retired and I'm not even sure if he made it on campus.

With decent QB play we are a top5 team easily.

Who is?

I have most of my fellow fans losing their shite. We have to embrace the FACT that parity is going to limit the kind of dominance we saw under Saban. The best two teams we have in the SEC BOTH have 2 losses. Both are established programs and coaches with returning QBs.

I'm not inclined to crucify Alabama coaches or players who undoubtedly are doing their best.

The rednecks who assume that ANYONE could continue Saban's dominance--when Saban walked away himself--can go frick themselves.

Alabama recruited the #2 QB of this class. Also the #2 recruit overall and the 9th highest rated recruit for Alabama since they started doing it.

Probably won't be ready to start next year, but if it's bad enough it's possible. I think maybe that Mack kid that followed DeBoer starts next year.

In all fairness, DeBoer didn’t seem worried about keeping him and wanted his jolly green giant kid from Washington instead. I’ll give him 2 more years to develop and settle on a good QB (either Mack or Russell, probably) before making a “final” judgement on his coaching abilities.

Doesn’t mean shite until he produces at this level. He played on a stacked high school team. You have no idea what you have until he plays at the collegiate level.

Saban had his thumb on them boys - they knew better. Deboer is on the far end of the spectrum from that.

No idea. All I remember was the kid saying he only came to Alabama for Saban, then bolted off to Ohio St. I figured he got paid more.

Exactly, which is why you don’t crucify a first year coach who hasn’t had time to develop a QB.

BK was handed a Heisman winner and lost 3+ games both years he had him.

Saban didn't have any more control at the end, that's why he retired. He said directly in front of congress under oath. Kids no longer care about being developed into elite players, they only want to get the most money.

Being elite is not about talent. Alabama has talent. Elite players are the ones who are talented and put the work in to develop that talent.

Talent can get you some big plays, but an elite player is developed. As the saying goes, don't practice it until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong.

And that's where Alabama has been lacking the past 2-3 years. Not in talent, still recruiting at the top level. But they aren't elite anymore because they don't put in the work.

I don't think this is an Alabama only issue. We just have a bad QB.

Bama will be fine. In fact, I worry more about my Tigers under Kelly than I do Bama under their new coach

Alabama will be back. They've won national titles with five different coaches. They may slump for a bit, but history says they'll be back on top. And as long as they keep beating Georgia the way they do, they'll get my respect.

History didn’t include a level NIL playing field and a wide open transfer portal.

This isn’t 2008 where Saban systemized the REC and bama boosters to have the best payment scheme in the country to hoard top talent.
