Well Bruce, I understand your frustration. The chances of us tippy toeing into the playoffs like a cinncinnati team did is not going to happen where we are. We’ll know pretty early whether we deserve it or not instead of cake walking in and getting embarrassed when we find out what we really are.
We knew what we were in for when we joined this conference but it was worth it to get away from the texas tripe.
But the good thing is we have basketball and baseball where we have a legitimate chance at a championship. And maybe, just maybe, Sam can domino one year, you never know…..

No text after the title would've been sufficient.
The East since the 2000s is virtually like playing an ACC schedule. It's a wonder their emergent elite teams aren't more successful in a CCG or the CFPs more often

Letting a G5 into the playoffs was the college football version of being “woke”, it was shameful

It was either them or Notre Dame.
I don't really see where they had a bad argument considering the other choices.

But it’s fair to say, Bama’s path to that NC was harder and more impressive, that is what Bruce means, it can be statistically proven, based in wins, recruiting ranks, nfl drafted/active, etc. but that’s all college football, people harp on Clemson for playing an “easy” path in the ACC, they aren’t wrong, and I’m sure saying that offends Clemson fans but it’s true, a lot of that has to do with the talent discrepancy between, it’s not Georgia’s fault the East doesn’t have stacked rosters like they do full of 4/5 stars, but let’s not act like they don’t benefit, in the West, at least 2 or 3 teams can match you in paper there

yeah, you’re like those fcs schools that only have to get up for 1 or 2 games a year, and most those are played in your own back yard.
name your tough West road games. i’ll hang up and listen.

The tough part of the deal is we played and lost to the two teams playing for the championship during the season. Even if we beat ole miss and aubie we are still left out of another chance. It happened when lsu and bama played for it all with us at number 3.
It’s difficult, even though we probably don’t win it, we aren’t given a chance even though many of us could beat the other teams that did get the chance.
But it doesn’t look like anything is changing at the top for a while so I’m not going to let it ruin my season of football watching and pulling for my team.
Go Hogs!.

Remember when arky got all pumped up thinking they were gonna give UGA a game

quote:Even with a “down” East division, if we don’t come to play, we may lose. Look at the close calls Bama had last season, or the unprepared UGA teams we had with Richt that would lose or almost lose to Vanderbilt or FCS teams.

Even so, we still schedule at least one good OOC team to make up for the less than stellar competition we have otherwise (we can’t help that we play in the East). We played ND twice (#24 and #7 when we played them). We opened with #3 Clemson on the road last year. We open with #11 Oregon this year. We already scheduled Oklahoma for next season and Clemson again in 2024.
But more to my point: regardless of how strong or weak the East is, we still have to play the best team in the West, and two of the best teams in the nation in the playoffs in order to win it all.
We aren’t pretenders like ND, who plays nobody to boost their record and then gets crushed in the playoffs. We have objectively good teams that are well coached and play competitively in big championship and playoff games.
quote:We only play two West teams per season, with Auburn always being one of them. If they suck, that removes them from the picture. This year we play Mississippi State on the road. Who knows how they will turn out but they likely won’t be able to hang. Even so, that is irrelevant to my statement about having to get through the best teams to in it all.

It doesn’t matter at the end of the day, other schools in other conferences have easier paths than Georgia, for example, how many times have the Sooners run through their conference and laid an egg in the playoffs? And they can do it bc every school they play outside of horns is playing with 3 stars/a handful of 4 stars all year, that’s what our roster consisted of when we were under Fran, Sherman, in those years, only Mack Brown was recruiting with them, A&M beating the Sooners in those days would be like Tennessee taking Georgia down now, it could happen and we got them a few times, but Vegas, the computers and roster say it shouldn’t happen
Maybe I’d say there is less parity in the SEC East instead of saying they are weaker
I had an LSU friend that used to tell me when they had Miles, sometimes it’s not about being better with X’s and O’s, it’s about lining up better athletes cross from the competition, and then you simply out athlete the frick outta them
