Annnnd they'll end up adding powerhouses like Tijuana State and Lamar University instead.

9 PAC + Kansas to the B1G
Maybe not this year, but I guarantee you that is the plan once Texas and OU go to the SEC. The PAC will be out of other options, and it won’t really change much for them.. their division will still be basically the same.
They will also try to convince A&M, Missouri & Vanderbilt and possibly Rice to join them. Not sure about Iowa Stare yet. Then they will start to target the ACC schools like Virginia and UNC.
The B1G will end up with 24 to 32 AAU schools.

They would do well to take Oregon and Iowa State. The rest?
The PAC 12 has screwed themselves into oblivion. They may never recover. Oregon needs to get out of that conference while they can.
The problem with Oregon is they would probably bring their weak kneed political ideals with them and corrupt any conference that takes them in, too.
As for the ACC? I suspect they will absorb West Virginia and somebody like Cincinnati....MAYBE UCF.

The PAC is screwed either way. Their only way to expand was Texas and OU. Now they are in a similar position to the Big XII. B1G merger makes sense.
As an Ag, I don’t really want the B1G. Yes there are some really appealing programs to play but too many who cares programs.

This is stupid.
Everything that has happened to CFB in recent history has been bad for the sport

Are all AAU schools. This is 100% their move imo.. Only question is when.. Those 9 schools could likely dissolve the PAC overnight if they really wanted to join.
THAT is a huge footprint. It would be a solid league no doubt.
Serious question, why is it important that all members be AAU schools?
Do they believe the academic standing of conference schools will drop if some of the schools do not have AAU status?

This AAU nonsense is going to be dropped pretty quick the second the SEC adds FSU and Clemson.

If this rumor is true I hope
Is already legitimately in the works.
I think the moves from the YouTube probably eliminated the BIG10 as an option for Clemson, which narrows the possibility out of being stuck in the ACC as the SEC & BIG10 take over to just the SEC who already has a SC school.

It is very important to the B1G. Their members will not vote in another school unless they are AAU.
All of the Ivy’s are AAU.. They chose school over football at one point as well, so that may happen again. I believe that the B1G will try to be both, but TBD is that is possible or not.

Clemson is not AAU, therefore not an option for B1G.

AZ is further south that AZ St.

Schools like Ohio State & Penn State & Michigan may leave the B1G, but the B1G will not change their view on only taking AAU schools imo..
B1G = School > Sports
It’s a completely different mindset than the Big 12, SEC or ACC. The PAC is very similar to the B1G. There will be a merger/expansion between the two at some point..

Billions in research money. The amount of money they receive makes football money look like pocket change.

Might as well just do away with conferences altogether at this point.
Establish regional divisions, start paying the players and institute a draft. Then CFB can be just like the NFL

But that money isn't going to go away if they add 1-3 non AAU schools, right?

If we are going to start paying players a salary then there should be a draft and equal split revenue sharing

A part of me likes this idea, and a part of me hates this idea. I really hope that they are required to attend class either way.. that will just kill the game imo.. What’s the point if they aren’t in college?
I want a team of players that attend Texas.. not a team of players living in Austin. That is a City thing.. not a College thing.
This is a very slippery slope..
