So what you are saying is you want errybody to suck bama's dick over this hire like bama fans did when we hired Bruce Pearl and Gus Malzahn?
Alabama fans thought Pearl was a bad hire? They're idiots then.

And no, I'm not even sucking Bama's dick. I formed an opinion when I saw the news. And when I clicked the thread, I noticed that some folks think it's a bad hire. That's it. I think that's insane.

Hey, I didn't bring up the Pels...that was your boy further up the page

I just finished the train of thought he started

Now kiss rings one through five (the first of which was sealed by Avery Johnson) and we'll forget about the whole thing

Got punked in the bball talk so you slink back to football. Typical lsufan

But since this is a BASKETBALL thread, use that broom from the TAMU/lsu regular season series to sweep your raggedy arse out of this thread

This is a great hire...for now. Best we could do considering the circumstances. Better than Prohm? HELL yes! Will it be a great hire in two years? Nobody knows. If he can translate to the college game, probably so. If not, well, we tried. Need I remind some of the naysayers, Nick Saban didn't exactly light up the NFL either. Some guys just do better where they are in control. That doesn't exist in the NBA or NFL unless your name is Pop or Belichik. He could be a great college coach or he could crash and burn. Either way, we did what we had to do today to give our basketball program the best chance to succeed. While I might agree that at this moment in time, Michael White and Steve Prohm might be better college coaches, I don't like their chances going forward bumping heads regularly both in living rooms and on the court with Calipari, Donovan, Howland, Pearl, and Barnes among others. To hold our own, we had to go there with AJ, think outside the box. You can give us shite right now all you want or you can laud this hire all you want. The truth is, the end of this story has yet to be written. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best and know we did what we had to do with the cards we were dealt.

I think most people think his lack of college experience makes this a puzzling hire. He was one of the two "biggest names" left floating around, as far as names associated with the bama job. The thing is....nobody knows if it's a good hire or not. Only time will tell.

I feel like UA would have been better off with Prohm.

They went for the big name to counter Pearl and might not have gotten the best coach in the process.

Bama's back was against the wall after the Marshall courtship. They had to make a hire that people would at least recognize the name. It is like the kid that gets rejected by all the good looking girls to go to the prom, then has to invite someone who graduated a few years earlier. Some people will remember the name, but they know she will never be named Prom Queen. It does help one save face.

Alabama went for the big name in Nick Saban too. It worked out. As far as whether or not Coach AJ will work out, we will just have to wait and see.

Bama is getting a lot of publicity right now. Might help with recruits.

Considering TAMU can thank Avery Johnson for this Recruit. I think Avery will be just fine with recruiting.
