Decided to do the SoS ranks for the SEC.

1. Arkansas
5. Florida
7. South Carolina
12. Ole Miss
18. Vandy
28. Auburn
29. Alabama
40. Tennessee
44. LSU
45. Miss St
65. Georgia
74. Missouri
91. Kentucky
103. Texas A&M

My immediate thought: Holy shite is A&M in trouble. They have that record on that SoS? Oh boy.

I was already thinking the same thing for LSU when I came across them at 44. But then Mizzou comes in at 74 and A&M at 103.

toughest schedule but still #2 in almost all defensive stats.

I guess the barometer is Saturday though.

Same with Ole Miss on the offensive side. This weekend will be interesting. Not fun, but interesting. i realized last weekend that what i am feeling during football season is called anxiety. and that cant be fun. But i cant wait for every game so i can suffer anxiety attacks for 8 hours. weird aye?

The SoS rankings always baffle me.

UGA has played two Top Ten opponents (at the time the game was played) and those teams are no longer Top Ten, in large part due to UGA beating them. That argument moreso for Arky than for Clemson, as they seem to have fallen apart.

Ranked 65 in SoS so far, yet having played two top ten opponents at the time the game was played is just a little fricky to me. That's all.

What other teams have have played and beaten two Top Ten opponents (at the time the game was played) at this point in the season? I'm not saying there aren't any out there, but the number is going to be pretty small.

During practice, the A&M offense ran an entire drive against air. It took 12 plays to score.

Time of game rankings mean nothing. You can say it 100 times and it still doesn't matter. All you are saying is: "We played some hyped up teams that weren't as good as people thought". What matters is how strong the team you actually played was.

That's why rankings update every week, rather than being set in stone in the preseason.

UGA isn't alone in this "We beat them so they don't look as good" thing. The same things apply to everyone who wins a game.

However, the truth is actually the opposite often times. The teams that played you can still get a bump in strength even if they lose.

Auburn, our next "first real test"

auburn is a bad team. Looking at UGA's schedule, UF will be the best test and they aren't great. If Alabama and UGA meet in the SEC title game it will be the first really good offense UGA will have faced.

UK is their best test, and though undefeated as well, not as dominating. I have seen defenses like UGA's before, and they tend to win natties. I like what UK has done, but I doubt they can score enough on that Dawg "D".

Clemson was our best test all year

Until it was Arkansas.

Now it’s Auburn

Unless of course it’s Kentucky

But we all know it’s gonna be UF

But Tennessee is an obvious trap game

I just meant it is the best test left on the schedule. I don't think anybody is going to beat UGA, but the best chance left is UK.

Can't we all focus on the fact that Arkansas has a better defense than Alabama for a minute? That was my take away....

Are other teams shutting everyone out and limiting them to under 75% of their regular production?

Maybe there is something different or unique that you are missing.

Georgia defense is ridiculous

And their offense isn’t problem is the least

They have to be the favorite

I know this may come as a shock to Georgia fans, but...Georgia isn't the only team your opponents have played.

makes me think Texas-Austin would take a Vanderbilt type beatdown against Georgia

27. Cincinnati (+12.0%)
5 SEC teams rank above this season's G5 media playoff darling.

it was Coastal last season - who lost to Hugh Freeze and Liberty in their bowl game.

Clemson no longer being ranked isn't because they lost a one-score game against Georgia; it's because they are a hair's breadth away from being a 1-4 team. Clemson has only one win by more than a single score - South Carolina State.

Clemson is dragging down your SOS, legitimately so.

By that logic, Alabama has played 3 Top 15 opponents out of 5 games.

Lol

Numbers are hard for auburn. Take away the georgia game and arkansas ranks ahead of auburn on offense.

Take away the georgia game and all of arkansas' other opponents equal 100% of their production (and uga is limiting them to 75% of that number).

Yeah. Our opponents play other teams. Because of that baseline, we know our defense is 2 standard deviations better.
