Nike is old money and lacks innovation for some reason.
Do you play football at Auburn, or is it harder to sniff jocks through Nike football pants?

Love our Nike stuff. Would be pretty pissed if we changed when the contract comes up.
I prefer the designs of Nike fan gear over UA. I prefer the quality of UA over Nike in fan gear and actual athletic apparel, if that makes sense.
I think UA is the better product, but Alabama's Nike gear is far more traditional than a lot of UA fan gear, and I would prefer that.
The clearance UA stuff at the end of every AU season is hilarious. It looks like the Wal-Mart team gear. They make some solid stuff, but some absolutely clownish garbage as well.
Just realized this post is going to be confusing: UA = under armour

Under Armour is the Ed Hardy of sports apparel

Auburn is the only SEC school located in 2 different states.
Having a footprint in both Georgia and Alabama has it's advantages.

Brilliant move by Fox. We have been the face of UA in the South for quite a few years now.

Yep - definitely.

Yep, make sense.
And in fairness, Nike makes some awful stuff too. However, we've been with Nike for 20+ years now. It'd be strange, with our jerseys being so plain, to see anything other than that Nike check on the shoulder area.

LSU:
Nike--$4.6 million/year
Auburn:
Under Armour--$7.81 million/year

LSU has the 3rd richest contract signed pre-2015.
If you haven't noticed, everything signed in the last 3 years has skyrocketed.

Under Armour has gotten better for us at making more traditional stuff, to their credit. But Nike has a lot more "plain" clothing, and what I really want is "performance" stuff (synthetics) but in traditional, boring styles. Plain/striped synthetic polos, stuff like that. Not super performance wear with one sleeve orange and one blue and the middle part striped with lighting bolts on it.
For example, I've been looking for a non-structured, not-flat bill synthetic AU hat for years. Think Nike Dri-fit stuff. It's pretty impossible to find.

Big businesses like Fox and Under Armour can obviously see that.
LSU is with CBS Sports Properties (Outfront Media) and Nike.
Your point?

Yea - one of Nike's strengths is that they have a lot of secondary type stuff. Dri-fit hats, tons of Nike Golf shirts with college logos.
All my Nike Alabama shirts now are technically "Nike Golf" shirts. That and their visors are the stuff I like best from Nike.

Our previous contract from well before 2015 was around 4 million a year

My point is that someone at LSU needs to get up off their arse and negotiate some better apparel deals for you guys.
You are selling yourselves short don't you think?
Don't fricking blame Auburn. Blame your Marketing College or whatever you have in Baton Rouge.

Auburn has a worse deal than Wisconsin
Yikes

That would come close to paying off the money you owe ex-coaches

I'm guessing when they negotiate their next contract they will get quite a large bump.
Same with Alabama.
That's the way these long term deals work in a sector that is exploding with values and $$$ amounts (apparel, TV, coaches, etc). You sign a 5 year deal and within the end of the 1st year you are already behind the Joneses.

Not sure what Wisconsin's deal is, but Auburn's deal as of 1 year ago........
quote:
Auburn's deal is worth $78.1 million over the next nine years at an average of $8.68 million per year, making it the third-largest apparel deal in the country, according to data compiled by AL.com. The deal includes a base compensation worth $22.5 million, and a product and apparel total worth $40.5 million over the life of the deal. Auburn will also be provided $10 million in stock in the company, $4.5 million in royalties and $675,000 in marketing.
This will push this deal to a higher level.
