Cooper and Randolph sitting most of the last ten minutes was certainly odd.
Was Releford benched of injured?
Lacey should have sat until Saturday, still not right.
I'll take the win and pass into the dance. Very nice!

It was a rivalry game plus a lot of ticky tacks called on the good guys.
Auburn Free Throws 5/12
Alabama Free Throws 24/32
12 fouls called on Bama, and 32 against Auburn. "a lot of ticky tacks called on the good guys in Orange"

welp it was a physical game but when Barbee's team plays Bama he plays hack ball and cycles players in
Auburn picks up a lot of fouls because that's how Barbee gets Auburn to pull us into a low scoring slugfest that Auburn can win
Barbee can coach, and his team about pulled an upset on the road

That 12 would probably be around a 17-18 had Auburn, umm, you know, actually made free throws and converted one-and-ones. Who am I kidding though, Auburn hasn't shot free throws well at all during barbees tenure, maybe that will turn into a priority one of these days. Also, Alabama actually has a post scoring threat, Green, something Auburn does not, and without looking I'm guessing he shot around 7-8 free throws.

Holy run on sentences.

Shocked to not see Engstrom in last night after playing well @ Aub. I guess his run is done now that Green is back.

I don't think his run is done, it just won't always be consistent minutes. Against a team with better scoring big men I think he'll play more because he's a better post defender than Jacobs. All Auburn has done low is Chubb.
Jacobs can't guard a guy like Sidney even, much less a really good post man.

Sidney isnt an easy assignment in the post. he's a lazy piece of shite, but he's still big as frick and skilled.

It's weird how sometimes we spark a run and look a little better when we put Eblen in. Releford's head wasn't in the game last night. It seemed like we were clearly overlooking Auburn and the only thing we wanted to do was make sure Green got his points. That can't happen the rest of the season.

He can be, when he stays out of foul trouble and the pace isn't too fast for him. But we're likely to face really good post men (Robinson, Zeller, Green, etc.) in the second round of the NCAA tournament if we're an 8/9 like it looks like we might well be.

I think Grant realized we weren't going to score much at that point so he put Eblen in for the final 10-12 minutes to play defense against the quick, small Auburn guards.

I think they were all over looking Auburn, and for good reason, god they suck...
They will be ready come Saturday....

When we only focus on feeding Green, all our freshmen lose their aggressiveness. They weren't driving and they weren't shooting open shots. I hate when they are afraid to shoot.

What?
Can't speak for any other AU fans, but I was never excited about the program when Lebo was around. He didn't recruit, and his coaching was bad.
Barbee is a great recruiter, and he has a track record for making a bad program progressively better. Just look at his 4 yrs at UTEP. Increased their win total every season. Thus my excitement.
We will win a lot more games in the future simply because Barbee will bring in better talent. Not a bad coach, either.

he brings it on D, but his court vision is abysmal. maybe worst i've seen from a Bama PG

From what I saw auburn did a good job of not letting bama penetrate their zone, and on a lot of possessions bama just tossed it around the perimeter until the shot clock was winding down. They did especially well at not letting releford get into the lane. Auburn just isn't good enough to beat bama. Some of those shots they threw up were horrifying

I like Jacobs offensively and he has a great attitude but he plays defense and rebounds like he's wearing 30 pound ankle weights. His footwork and positioning is awful.
