Disclaimer: I can geek out on this stuff so this meant for someone that wants to get a little bit in the weeds.

Oregon updated Oregon roster in prep for PAC 12 media days starting Wednesday.

Some notes on the roster:

*all of 2019 class is enrolled. There doesn't appear to be any departures before camp.
*S&C staff leaned out the team for the most part. For instance, the oline was carrying too much weight last year.
*the back seven of the defense is where gains were made, as well as the running backs.

Here are summer workout story lines:

*Jamal Hill DB, Brandon Dorlus DT, and Teven Ma'ae OLB, were mentioned the most by insiders as the most impressive of the newcomers that weren't early enrollees. The main takeaway here is that the higher rated kids like Tuaunu'u and Funa weren't mentioned.

*Sounds like Jamal Hill might actually get on the field quickly. He's 6'1" 204 db with the best top end speed in the safety unit. Got him out of Morrow, GA.

*ILB rotation has been small, shallow and/or not very talented at Oregon for awhile now. We are very fortunate Dye is Mr. Reliable (knock on wood). This is the position group that I believe levels up the most.

*Adrian Jackson that was featured in the two deep last year as a true frosh is the lone position change from OLB to ILB.

As a side note, since this is a SEC forum, Gus Cumberlander DL (GA), Jordon Scott DL (FL), Verone McKinley CB/Nickel (TX), Dallas Warmack OL (AL) are SEC area kids projected to start going into camp with Darrian Felix RB (FL) and Ge'Mon Earford ILB (FL) featured in the two deep. Andrew Johnson OLB (GA) and Daewood Davis CB (FL) with newcomer Brandon Dorlus DT (FL) will compete for playing time this year. So, the team will have a definitive southern flavor to it.

I will bump if there is any story lines that come out of media days.

Looking forward to interacting with the Auburn fans and getting to know the 2019 Auburn version. It's hard to not root for kids that give up NFL and come back another year like Brown.

Curious about any story lines on Auburn.

Are there any other Oregon fans on here? Not hating I just feel like you are the only one I’ve seen. There are several OSU and OU fans, but I only remember you for Oregon.

I don’t really frequent the MSB so that makes since. I go on Pels Talk, Saints Talk, TR, SR, LSU Rec, SEC Rec, and the Soccer board, so it makes sense I wouldn’t see any of them.

What's the argument that Oregon beats Auburn? Seems like Auburn is the favorite on this board.

I'd say Auburn is a pretty big wild card, as is Oregon for that matter.

At the very least Oregon has a proven QB.

I would give the edge to Auburn. However, I think if Oregon wins the difference is at qb. Herbert can be special and they will have a brand new qb and Oregon’s defense is opportunistic and this defense should make trouble for the qb.

It wouldn’t surprise to see either team win by 20. Auburn is probably gonna suck and every time I think that they win 10+ games.

Oregon looked really good at times last year and also like complete shite. The one thing Oregon has going for it is Auburn should be able to control the line of scrimmage. Normally when that happens Gus will throw it 40 times and pull defeat from the jaws of victory.

Lol, there is not a lot of confidence in the coaching on either side out there. What worries me the most is not the OL/DL. It probably should but to be honest Oregon's best unit by a long shot is the OL and DL is not far behind. The trenches for Oregon have size, depth, experience and athleticism.

Where we are step below, and maybe two steps below, is at WR. When I watch Auburn's tape they have some explosive WRs and we don't. Oregon will have more length than explosiveness in the passing game. Also, Oregon's dbs are ultra aggressive, which is not great for a game against Malzahn.

Well if y’all play the game right that won’t matter. If you are truly better on both sides of the trenches than auburn and you play to that strength you will blow them out. Trenches win. That’s a fact

To be honest, this might not be a bad thing for Oregon unless they are exposed through a bubble screen or jet sweep.

Auburn has no idea what will happen at QB.

Auburns DL is fantastic and typically that type of DL wins that battle, especially early in the season. I watched some of the Auburn/LSU game last night and saw COE dump a pretty athletic OL of theirs on his arse with one arm. I haven't seen anything like it.

I just don't think Auburn is great on the OL. I do think our DL can stop their run.

Nice update. Good info. Looking forward to the game

I have to tell you though, you guys have some very big shoes to fill. We started with your Pac12 counterpart last season and that fanbase was fun as hell. They laid down some seriously funny shite leading in to that game. They may be the most racist fan base we have ever encountered. (See my sig line that I still use)

Im going to need to know which message board we can follow to entertain us for the last few weeks

Good luck

Thanks for the info, bison.

As mentioned elsewhere, we really don't have a clue how this season will play out (other than our guaranteed loss in Red Stick in October).

Despite all the questions about our new starting QB (which is still pretty much undetermined), our OL is the real wildcard. They seemed to play a little better down the stretch, but they can hardly be thought of as a strength.

If we don't get the right pieces in the right places in fall camp, it won't matter much whom is taking the snaps.

I feel pretty good about our defense being able to keep Herbert from going HAM on us - but if we continue to give up those quick slants across the middle unchallenged, he's gonna get a lot of yards.

Should be a good game, much like last year vs UDub.

I just wish this was a home-home series rather than neutral. I got to see your campus last December and would love a chance to see a game there. Plus I want to see how Hayward Field is coming along. It was a just a big hole in the ground then!

Good info and post. I’ll echo what others have said, our offensive line and QB are the wild cards. O-line played like shite the majority of last season, and a new QB coming in. Hints say it’s Joey Gatewood. Big running QB, but still a first year starter.
