Most people expected this when he signed. Gatewood came on in the spring and he has the same measurements as Cam. People forget Patrick Nix was the OC at GT and Miami. Bo has been getting college coaching since the 8 th grade.

I said nothing of the sort. I merely inquired about the reasons for starting a true freshman (in that offense).

Oh baw, oh baw, oh baw! Auburn is bringing a true freshman QB into Tiger Stadium. Poor kid is going to shite his pants. LSU by 21

This was my first thought as well.

Is he really "start as a true freshman" good?
Or is he "we don't have anybody else so start the freshman" good?
There's a reason coaches say QBs benefit the most from a redshirt year.
Do you really think they would go with Nix over red-shirt freshman 4* Gatewood if there was any question about his ability as a true freshman?

I’m sure that he’ll be a good player but Malzahn is never at his best without a dual-threat quarterback back there.

really shows how low its gotten at Auburn. I am all for playing the best player its just sad the best qb on roster is a true freshman.

I don't think Lawrence or Fromm comparisons apply in this situation. Auburn has a very unique offense. Frankly, I don't think Lawrence or Fromm would do well in Malzahn's offense either. You need a specific sort of cat to run that offense.
Don't be a dolt man. I answered your original question and only used Trevor Lawrence over Bryant as an analogy that our freshman wasn't competing against a proven QB with several years in the system.

The top 3 preseason teams in the Country all won or went to the CFP national champ with a true freshman QB. Maybe kids are just coming in better equipped these days?

I dont disagree with this. And I would say Bo's game is more similar to Baker Mayfield than Fromm or Lawrence. And I think baker would wreck shite in Gus's offense. So perhaps this is a great fit

These OU guys are retarded I think
I'm glad they get a chance to go on message boards though. Good for them.

I think they would if they've failed to develop Gatewood, yes. QB development has not been, and is not now, Malzahn's strength.

They’re both trolling. Not really hiding it well but people still take the obvious bait.

Going to be a long season for Auburn. He doesn't have a good RB or O-line to depend on. Two things you need with a freshman QB.
O-line verdict is out. With 5 RS-SRs it should be improved from last year. The fact you say we don't have a good running back tells me everything i need to know about you as a poster. Which brings me to my next point....Don't do drugs
Also, Bo was rated as PP in some rankings but as the #1DT QB in 247 Comp. He is pretty fast. Way faster than Stidham was. He is good enough running to make Defenses respect his ability. The good thing with Bo is he runs but keeps his eyes downfield. Was sacked 2 times his last two years of Highschool. I know this is the SEC but that should still tell you something.

Baker isn't athletic enough to wreck shite in Gus's offense.

No, he’s white which means he’s a pocket passer. Real cerebral guy.

If I were an OU fan I would be worried that my freshman QB couldn't beat out Jalen Hurts. Can't believe it's fallen apart so quickly for Riley.
