I would think at least the alumni would want to see a complete athletic program, men and women's sports. That's kind of the point of spending the money to field these programs. And if they're successful, fans have the right to be proud of that.

no sh*t it looks good on paper.. because it's a good hire.
You can stop being so sensitive now.

The chickens will be counted if they decide to hatch. If it is, indeed, a great hire, results will show and the fan base will be happy. If it is another lackluster, Jay Jacobs-esque hire, there will be just as much bitching as there has been since everyone noticed how terrible Auburn was in nearly every sport.

We are definitely hoping to see massive improvement.

I am an Auburn Alum and I obviously want success for everything Auburn. I'm just not going to pretend to be a softball fan all of the sudden because a coach I've never heard of before gets hired. It's softball still and it's not my cup of tea.

It may be softball, but it is the single best hire, at least on paper, that Auburn has had in an individual sport in a very long time. When is the last time a championship caliber coach has been hired by an Auburn AD? In any sport?

The sport didn't eve exist at many SEC schools until the mid-1990s. Alabama didn't have a program until 1998. Auburn since about 1996. So it is very new to the scene, relatively speaking. Alabama put a winning product on the field and the fans starting flocking to. Call it being "bandwagon" or not, but if you build a winner you will bring the fans in.

Give the man a little bit of credit... he hired a very good coach, who's been to the WCWS numberous times and has 2 National Championships.

This.. It's fricking old. Some AU fans are trying way too hard to spin anything in a negative light just to appease the other fan-bases here. We get it, Jacobs isn't liked, point taken - it's ran its course, he's not going anywhere.

I lived by a bunch of the AU softball players back in 2000-2001. Nothing like what you see coming out of the west coast. Bunch of nasty, fat rug munchers. Maybe Myers will bring in some better quality.

Not worried at all, I like where torina has our program going. She is a nick Saban recruiter, but relating to softball. Congrats on the hire

By all accounts, he wants to be able to coach alongside his son(s), and the state of Arizona doesn't allow it. Plus, a son lives in Alabama.

I have to agree with this. Can't beat him up for every move he makes. Great hire for AU.

It's a great hire, yes, but I am extremely confident in Torina. She is on a tear recruiting.

And if Myers can't win at Auburn, then no one can. But he'll do great. Long live jay Jacobs!
