This is another brilliant move by AU. They always make sure to make headlines to cover up their problems. They fired EJ today to get their fans to forget the game yesterday. Similar to announcing infractions on days where it will be overlooked. They can't take the suffering.

Ummmmmm........yes? Seems pretty natural when we put up 44 pts and still manage to lose that an Auburn fan would feel better knowing steps were being made to rectify the situation on defense.

In other news..............lots of scaaaaaaared arse gumps in here at the prospect of Malzahn addressing defensive woes.

Anyway, off to join the fapfest on the Aubie board.

No, Lsu has been far more consistent. Why you ask? Because they don't fire everyone whenever we beat them.
Well this statement is a bit myopic in its' reasoning. It's typical of a Bama fan to assume everything Auburn does is about them though, so it's not surprising. Auburn has given up 38.6 ppg in the six games following the win over LSU. The numbers Bama put up weren't the outlier, but the norm.

Another team meeting recently was called for tomorrow afternoon. They're expecting to hear about a new DC in that meeting, but I'm not yet able to discern if that's a legit premise or not.

We had only lost 4 games when we scored 30 or more points in our entire history until Johnson came in. Now that number is 7. It's a trend that we want to stop now. I realize we won't have a dominant defense with the offense that we run, but our defense has been way below average. Something needed to change.

Agreed, you put up 44 points against a good defense and you still lose, something needs to change.

Muschamp is the best dc in college football. Is this somehow close to the truth? Why?

Muschamp, Chizik and Rhoads all got HC Jobs within a few years of being a DC at AU. What HC has Saban produced on the Defensive side since he came to Bama ?

And we're not really expecting Top 10 results on defense if we're really playing quickly.

But if someone has a very solid defense while Gus does what he wants, that'll certainly help the resume.

I've always heard that Champ would never come back to Auburn because of Jay Jacobs. What's up with that?

And lets not pretend that Auburn runs an offense that puts the defense in predicaments. We dont have many three and outs and we control the clock more than people think

Seems when Muschamp was at auburn before fans weren't in love with his defense. I remember lots of complaints that dbs didn't turn to see the ball. I also remember some bad defenses he had at Texas. He is a good DC, but I wouldn't call him a defensive guru.

I've been saying Muschamp is overrated for years. His defenses at UT weren't world beaters and I can't trust a DC that runs the defense of a notable defensive coach like Saban and Tuberville.

Auburn's riding high off of them. 'Well they didn't lay down.' And 'If we'd converted more in the red zone.'
