quote:You aren't cheap, you've paid out well over $100million in the last 6 yrs on HC buyouts and rotating coordinators & position coaches every freaking year. Freeze sold the boosters on high priced, headline grabbing star recruits. He sold the fans on him not being able to actually game-plan and coach games because he was too busy recruiting, the fans bought that shite.
The rest of the roster is going to be completely below average because of how cheap we are.
Auburn has plenty of money and gave Freeze anything he wanted so that he could build a talented roster. He had NIL $$ millions + top facilities + the discretion to fire & hire numerous coordinator's & position coaches spending millions more on buyouts & salaries.
Freeze ran a sales pitch on Auburn he sold religion & family, and your boosters, administration and fan base bought it.

That team, outside of Cam and Fairley, was arse cheeks.

I've got family members and friends that are Auburn fans. That said, screw em, hope they lose every game.

I never saw the appeal of auburn in anything…

The only appeal is the ability to sniff your own farts with fellow Auburn fans about how you're so much better than "redneck Bammers." That's literally it. Auburn fans are college football hipsters.

Auburn is the new SEC version of Nebraska.
Auburn was never Nebraska. You are more the SEC version of Pitt. You each claim 9 national championships. Most people point and laugh at most of them. In the last 20 years you have each won two division titles. Pitt has 773 wins all time, Auburn has 804. Each is little brother in their state.
No, Auburn is the SEC version of Pitt.
The immediate future of Pitt looks brighter than Auburn’s though just because Pitt plays in the ACC and Penn State is in flux.

The only thing that has separated auburn from the bottom dwellers was very very big money to support the illusion. If the money ever ran out, the curtain would be pulled back to expose the paper tiger.

When you need as many pieces as Auburn needs it seems kind of foolish to spend $2.5m on a single player. But sure..go ahead and have an emotional meltdown over it.

feels a bit early for a melt of next season, this season isn't even over yet
A melt over the transfer portal four days before the transfer portal even opens.

I've got a feeling that once no-nonsense Alex Golesh gets "his guys" in there ( I know its a worn out cliche) and guys who want out, get out they'll be okay.
Its a perfect opportunity for the phrase buying-in to NOT be about money.
I'm thinking he fields a tough and competitive team sooner than later.
Now, I'll never say War Eagle, but good luck in the future Auburn Tigers.

I'm enjoying it after they were so full of themselves first with Tubberville then with the arrogance they all displayed when they tried and failed to hire Kiffin, all the posters "oh he's is definitely coming we're a national program...and especially after watching Cole Kubics fat bald arse asking,"oh what players do you think will transfer to Auburn after he is hired?" during a football game.
They won't recover from this for a while...they will be fighting Mississippi State for bottom of the SEC

That oline was top shelf,
Their weaknesses were masked by a generational QB & a scheme that rarely forced them to block for more than a couple seconds.

the RB's (Dyer) were great
He was fine, but benefited greatly from Cam’s ability to freeze defenses with his ability to run. RBs look great when LBs can’t be aggressive.

Auburn is run by morons.

I'm thinking Duece is watching the portal...too many teams need QB's is he going to stay at Auburn with all the players leaving or get paid more to go to a better offense and better chance of winning.

Was an illegal player down field a penalty back then? It seems it wasn’t, there were always Auburn linemen 5 yards down field even when Cam threw the ball.
