Bill Clark was my #1 choice for Arkansas. I've been thinking for the past two years that he's going to be the next Auburn coach, and I'm going to dread every second of it.

A lot of college football fans get obsessed and preoccupied over a lot of trivial stuff when hiring a football coach. All you need to do is look at Clark's resume and see that he's elevated himself past the level of competition everywhere he's been. Here is UAB's record before Bill Clark took over, all the way back to when they joined FBS football.

2013: 2–10
2012: 3–9
2011: 3–9
2010: 4–8
2009: 5–7
2008: 4–8
2007: 2–10
2006: 3–9
2005: 5–6
2004: 7–5
2003: 5–7
2002: 5–7
2001: 6–5
2000: 7–4
1999: 5–6
1998: 4–7
1997: 5–6
1996: 5–6
1995: 5–6
1994: 7–4
1993: 9–2

21 years with one bowl appearance and five overall winning seasons. It was so bad, they decided to just shut the football program down right after Clark took over. Here is Clark's record:

2014: 6–6

2017: 8–5
2018: 11–3
2019: 9–5
2020: 6–3

Bowl eligible five out of five years, while being selected for four. Not one losing season. What the man has done there is nothing short of a miracle.

He also went 11–4 his one year at Jacksonville State at 2013, before being hired at UAB. According to wikipedia, his high school record is 106–11. He's never left the state of Alabama, so he has firm recruiting in-roads. All he fricking does is win, and if Auburn would actually give him the same kind of support UAB has, he would methodically build a terrifying machine there.

Edit: Also, Tuberville and Chizik had downright underwhelming resumes at their time of hire. Each led Auburn to an undefeated season. Malzahn had a hot name as an OC, and one nine win season at a G5 program. So the fact that any Auburn fan would turn their nose up at Bill Clark is absurd to me.

And Prattville was really awful before he got there.

I hope it works. I do not want to have to play against that guy every year.

That hire would be a solid infield single for Auburn.

He om;y makes 550,000 at UAB, so Auburn can get him cheap.

As someone who follows UAB football, I would say he is a great coach and a good defense mind, but the offense at UAB has been very suspect and the struggles recruiting offensive players shows that. I honestly don't know that this would work out well for Auburn.

He's also a control freak, so if the boosters have their hands in everything, I don't see him accepting.

So, Aubie is facing an 0-2 count?

Almost like they jumped into this without a plan.

Almost.

This is honestly baffling if true, and it's certainly trending that way.

Why not just fast forward this thing and go ahead and get Niblett now for the Tigers.

Seems to me this year they had a badass RB, a couple of damn good WRs, and a solid QB.

Exactly! Bill Clark ain’t nothing but a winner. However, if he doesn’t get to have full control, I hope he does turn it down. No coach will be successful at Auburn till the GOB’s are removed from power.

Ps, I probably know you if you live in Prattvegas.
