The NCAA doesn't sit players, they only make recommendations. There were rumors flying around Friday and Saturday that Auburn administration was torn. Some people said sit him some said play him. Then yesterday there some pretty big allegations thrown around on various places by people that generally don't make shite up. I just have a hard time believing that Auburn would decide to play him if they didn't know if he was/wasn't 100% eligible.
OK all kidding aside. I don't know what the truth is and I am sure it will all get out when its all said and done. As an Auburn fan I am supporting my team because all that has come out is allegations and stories of this guy said that and that guy said this. All I have is to trust the powers that be at Auburn. If I am being led astray than my anger towards those same people will come out when that is proven.

Someone needs to tell this to Jeremy Bloom who was PERMANENTLY BANNED FROM FOOTBALL BY THE NCAA because he wanted to ski in the Olympics.
Try to represent your country? frick you!
Your dad asks or 6 figures to deliver you to a school? No problem!
The scary thing is......to some very intelligent people, this bullshite makes sense.

Not really. After the preseason consultation with the SEC, NCAA, and attorney it was pretty clear that unless something new, something big came up Auburn was/is in the clear. We worked from the worst case scenario on this one, meaning that we worked under the assumption that MSU and Cecil did talk about pay for play.
I think this was probably much closer to the line than what Rich McGlynn prefers but at the same time you don't get the big jobs dodging decisions so it was a good one for him as well considering his longterm ambitions.

Yeah but wasn't Bloom taking money from corporations to train? If so, that takes care of his amateur status.

There's no way that the decision was Chizik's alone to make. Or the AD for that matter.
The person paid to run Auburn University had a vote.

Seriously what I expect to come from this is a huge MELTDOWN in TD when Auburn and Cam are cleared and they are holding the crystal football in Jan. That is seriously what I expect to come from all this.

Maybe you're right but then again, the problem is clearing Fig Sr. He has already stated the discussion of money did come up at MSU. That much they know. Now they are looking to see what discussion of money may have happened at Auburn. At any rate, I really don't see the NCAA allowing this to even break out of the seed. The "kid didn't know" defense won't and shouldn't fly because if they allow it now-they will send the WRONG message. It only a matter of time!!

Some kids make crazy money to play pro baseball and college football at almost the same time. The NCAA is just a fricked up mess of an organization. How a kid's dad asking for money doesn't "take care of his amateur status" is beyond me.....

They have already allowed it.
They already did send the wrong message......the NCAA doesn't care.

I'm pretty sure even the most homerific Auburn fans understand that something is going to come out of all of this.
We are just waiting to see how it plays out unlike most fans of other SEC schools who hope and pray something comes of this. Whether it be to advance their team to post season honors (SECC, NC) or just flat out pissed AU beat that arse on the field.

The only organization I've seen that has said it was Auburn's decision was the SEC through Slive. I haven't seen anywhere that the NCAA said anything along the lines of - proceed with caution/Do it if you want, but...., etc.
The only thing we know is that there was a meeting with the NCAA last week(Thurs I believe) and we played him on Saturday, leading me to believe we're clear for now.
Could something happen to us? Sure, but no one knows for sure at this point. All the rival fans are just making opinions based on what they want to see.

Only one flaw in this theory-Why is the NCAA investigation and conducting interviews NOW if this was all discussed with them preseason as you claim?

yes, something will come of this. But its not homerific to stand by your team while the only things out there right now are unproven allegations. IF everything is proven true, i don't know an Auburn fan that won't apologize for the embarrassment this has all caused, but at this point, we have nothing to be sorry for because all that has happened is we have been accused by he said/ she said.

Why is that any different than Quarterbacks who take a couple million to play baseball and then decide to go play college football?
Come to think of it, what a really great scam!!! Just get your best recruits to play baseball, get them drafted for a nice 6 figure bonus that gets paid directly to them - no parent middleman - and then in a couple of years bring them back to your school. TOTALLY LEGAL AND NCAA APPROVED!!!

No they haven't-they did not allow Cam to play-Auburn did-the NCAA is still conducting its investigation and could have well hinted to Auburn to "make a wise decision".

so you really think that's the way it works, huh? the NCAA met with them and they said, "we're innocent" and the NCAA said, "cool, then you can play saturday". i'm actually starting to feel sorry for you fans. you're being played like a fiddle.

IIRC, Bloom's case was about his sponsorship deal's, not necesarily winnings. Which is why minor leaguers' (sp?) can still play another sport. Also, Colorado likely ruled him ineligible and submitted it to the 'AA to get him reinstated. Anybody follow how the Enes Kanter case started?
Posted on 11/15/10 at 10:40 am to LSUdm21
I don't understand why it matters if he played or not. If their other wins are going to get vacated IF he is found to be not eligible, then what does one more game matter.
I understand the punish could be more severe. But simply looking at vacated wins, then it really doesn't matter.
Auburn basically said by him playing that we are innocent, so even IF he is found to have taken benefits our punishment will be the same whether we play him or sit him. So, let's just continue the fun ride.

Again, NCAA will not tell AU to suspend Cam until the investigation is complete. AU will get it's due, and it won't be pretty.

This is what I've been told from someone who played at Auburn in the 70s and donates not millions but enough to know a lot of the top dogs over in the Athletic Dept. He's worried because a lot of the same people who were in charge during the 80s (Pat Dye Era) are back to calling a lot of the shots in the Athletic Dept. again including Pat Dye himself. Basically, Tuberville kept Dye and his cronies out of the Athletic Dept. as long as he could, until he finally gave them a reason to fire him. Gene Chizik = Jay Jacobs, both puppets that will do whatever Pat Dye, Lowder, Jimmy Rane and others tell them to do.

I've heard it suggested that Auburn is using the Albert Means defense with Newton. In other words, he was cleared to play at Memphis even after everything came out against Alabama. One problem with that is that he would need to be FORMALLY re-instated to play at Auburn if it is simply an MSU pay for play deal. Did Auburn re-instate Newton prior to him playing this year? I can't imagine this whole ordeal not making the news before the end of the season if he had in fact been formerly re-instated (his eligibility re-instated).
