I believe this story to be factual. Those are 2 tPOS's

Nothing will happen to them. If by the end of fall camp they are slated to start or be in the 2 Deep, nothing will happen to them though.

This vet is not going to get a public apology from the players though, that would be an admission of guilt, and they nor the school is going to allow that to happen.

Okay, how about a apology publicly from both of the players

Duval also told AL.com that the two players have acknowledged their actions and wish to apologize to the veteran

Russell was at one time committed to Georgia. I guess he was smart and took the quick route to Auburn instead of the sit out a year rout.

It is clearly listed as a service dog, but my hunch is reading a bit about the training service that the dog would be labeled therapy and not service. There are significant difference in training requirements, etc… for a service dog vs a therapy dog. However, therapy dogs are growing in popularity. I believe the therapy designation now allows for a dog to ride in the cabin of a airplane. This was formally held for service dogs onl

so what?

No, not really. A couple suggested there are reports conflicting the accusation.

I'm betting this story has been way over dramatized from what actually took place. So they whistle at a dog she asked to stop and they start screaming at her and calling her a bitch wearing auburn football gear in front of a bunch of students.... Yeah not buying that it happened like that

keep that chin up, buddy

so what?

Look back at my original post. I am not defending the actions of the players. I was only bringing my knowledge to the issue raised about service dog verses therapy dog. Within in the dog training world there are very strong opinions on the value of therapy dogs and the lack of training, restrictions, etc…that come with them.

This is apparently false. Many students that were there say that Russell&Williams along with other people were petting the dog or rather trying and she lashed out at just at the 2 players.

I'm pretty sure service dogs are supposed to have something on them announcing to everyone that they're service dogs. Every person that was there has said she had nothing on the dog but a collar and leash.

That fits the MO of somebody with PTSD to lash at strangers in a crowded place for a very small issue and the MO of women to blame everybody else after the fact.

And the no service dog vest supports what I've been saying that it's a therapy dog and not a service dog. Service dogs are seeing eye dogs, hearing aid dogs, and for people with physical disabilities. This woman said she had PTSD and never claimed any physical disabilities. There are programs for veterans with PTSD that give them therapy animals but now service animals. And a Bama fan/ marine already pointed out in this thread that people with these therapy animals like to claim them as service animals in order to bring them into places.

Of all the people that could have been involved, this is a:

Veteran
Disabled
Woman
Whose medical condition has been linked to sexual assault in the military.

You would have been hard pressed to find someone who would stir more emotions than she would. You've got "Support Our Troops!" and "Women Take Back the Night!" all on the same side on this one.

She's understandably high strung and the players are typical dumbass jocks. Is this really a shock? They didn't know better obviously.

non story imo

I thought the same thing, but her PTSD also makes it highly likely that she was an issue in the situation as well.

I'm sure a public apology will come now that the coaches have called and apologized.

Not a sports-related story really. But it is a story about two college students (who happen to be football players) doing something, and we don't really know what it was, that deeply offended a young lady with deep-seeded problems. After reading the story about her in few posts ago, I really feel bad for her.

Even if the students didn't know her condition, if true, they should be punished by the school. I'm sure, if this all comes to light that it happened the way she said, there are guidelines set for punishment for bullying, harassment (sexual or not), and/or disability issues.

No one should hold this against Auburn, just the students involved. There are questions however, why didn't any of the people who saw it, intervene? Is it because it was not that severe (but what really is?), Or, is it because they are known players and the student body felt a bit intimidated? If it is a disability rights issues, this will not just go away.

Just waaaaay too many questions still left. But this is a University issue first, and a football issue second.

This is an interesting sociological situation. I wonder how many supporters of disabled veterans would be less motivated to support a sexually harassed woman with PTSD, and how many feminists would be less motivated because she's a veteran, and how many of all of us are colored by her university affiliation.

I have no idea about this story, but I have recently seen in Atlanta area, two "service dogs" that were T-cup poodles that their owners were literally dragging on a leash through the store behind them. On two different occasions I saw this.

First one, I laughed a little and asked the owner if their animal was really a service dog? What service were they performing? I guess thats an ignorant question, but the only service dogs I've ever seen or heard of were large breed dogs that helped blind and disabled people.

I agree. PTSD is a tough cookie. Clearly it is a result of nothing from her own doing, but functioning with PTSD seems like a ticking time bomb. I don't have enough info to speak about the incident, but to athletes picking at another student isn't new to campus life. Our world is different we now call it harassing, etc…but my guess is what happened was magnified because of her struggles with PTSD. I don't know that for certain though.
