To me it used to be Alabama and now it’s Georgia. Prior to 2010 the Auburn/ UGA rivalry was actually pretty friendly, but that turned when we got the trophy due partly to Nick Fairley and partly to envy.

Hardly. It happened in 1986 at the Between the Hoses game. Auburn fans like to think it started in 2010 because it somehow gives them validation that they finally caught Georgia in the number of National Championships.

quote:

It seems to me that UGA has a bit of a superiority complex over Auburn that really isn’t justified looking at the historical records and trophy cases of both programs.
Well, lets take a look at it and see.

National Championships:
UGA-2
AU-2

SEC Championships:
UGA-14
AU-12

All Tim win %:
UGA-.655
AU- .631

Bowl games:
UGA-56
AU-44

Bowl Win %:
UGA- .598
AU- .568

Weeks at #1 in AP Poll:
UGA-15
AU-9

All Time wins:
UGA-831
AU-776

Head to head:
UGA-60
AU-56
Ties-8

Yep. The trophy case clearly favors Auburn.

Well, you get the chance every. single. year. When will you start ripping?

As for Georgia, I hate them with maybe less intensity but also have zero respect for their program.

Check my post above. The programs are near mirror images of each other. How do you feel about Auburn's program?

thUGA has 1 NC. Quit trying to be like Bama. But if you want to count that way:

thUGA 2 NC
Auburn 9 NC

Either way, it doesn’t look good for y’all.

Alabama in a landslide.

Until you live in this state, you cannot even fathom how stupid Bama fans are

Question for the board?

Does the 1942 national championship for UGA count?

Asking for a friend.

UGA has 2. We see it. The NCAA sees it. Winsipedia sees it. The only people that don't see it is Auburn fans, apparently.

Auburn 9 NC

Now if you want to start counting close misses and wishes then we can probably beat 9.

Your own school only recognizes two.

Just to clarify for the board, these are Alabama and Auburn fans, who have relatively recently seen poisoned trees and actual murders over a football game, discussing how UGA fans aren’t civil

Uga has 6 undefeated seasons to Auburn’s 12. So “probably” is a no.

Yes two legit ones by what most people consider to be the consensus selectors as opposed to UGA

The NCAA sees it.

Interesting. So to that “probably” comment....

So no legit selector picked UGA in 1942?

Are you somehow under the impression that only teams that are undefeated can win a National Championship?

Two legit ones? You mean like the 1957 one in which Auburn was on probation for paying players?

Like I said...by any measure Georgia has two. More if we count wishes and misses like Auburn fans want to do. In fact, if you go to the official NCAA website it has more listed for Georgia than Auburn. Count them if you want.

Georgia is loaded this year. It's going to be interesting to see how they hold up throughout the season playing SEC competition week in and week out

We have a front loaded schedule which will hurt since we are breaking in a new OC and offense. We'll see. If we can get by Auburn and Tennessee we will have a really good year.

I think Tennessee will be the dark horse team and do very, very well.

Yes two legit ones. Your beloved coach for UGAs sole nc was a coach for that team that paid players, btw. And again a legit championship by the standard poll to declare. Not a retro championship. Btw, where did walker get his car?

. Not really, lol

huh?

. You should dig a little deeper in this statement. Knowledge is power...

You're the one that brought up undefeated seasons.

The seasons don't have to be undefeated for teams to have a title, so I am not sure why you were counting them.

Your point? Does it change the fact that Auburn was on probation for paying players?

quote:

Btw, where did walker get his car?

Are you insinuating that a black man can't afford to buy his own car? However....Clemson is the answer you are looking for.

quote:

Not really, lol
Yes, really. Our school claims them and the NCAA recognizes them.

quote:

You should dig a little deeper in this statement. Knowledge is power...

It is. Use the link and start counting. It is NCAA.Org, the official site. Knowledge is power. But let me give you a hint...it isn't about knowing stuff....it's about knowing where to find the answers. Don't go by truncated "Reader's Digest" NCAA sites. Go to the official site and you can count. If I am not mistaken it has Georgia with 6 and Auburn with 5. Read 'em and weep. However...I don't count them unless my school recognizes them. Auburn fans should do that, too.

ETA
BTW, we wouldn't even be having this conversation if an Auburn fan wasn't bragging about how much better their trophy case was than ours.

Both parents worked and took a note out on the car. It was bought used BTW at a Ford dealership Herschel had worked at.
