Georgia is a very good school. But when you factor how large the state is and how many major companies are headquartered in Atlanta, it really is disappointing how relatively low UGA ranks in just about everything. It's rated the 3rd best university in its state, behind Georgia Tech and Emory. It is just the #19 rated public school in America, solidly behind many neighboring state schools like Florida, UVA, UNC, etc. For a state with all the resources of Georgia, you'd expect better.

UGA is not a STEM school. Unlike Alabama, Georgia is a successful state that has room for several esteemed institutions besides its flagship (e.g., GT and Emory).
You’re also, unsurprisingly, missing a critical distinction. Auburn has better STEM programs than UGA because it is primarily an Ag / STEM school, yet no one outside of Alabama views Auburn as academically impressive.
Meanwhile, UGA has nationally ranked top 25 business and law schools, and a burgeoning (recently founded) medical school. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, those in finance, big law, and medicine generally sit atop the social strata. Again, I’m sure making $120k in a STEM field in suburban Montgomery is an accomplishment for an Auburn grad…
To draw an analogy — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has better STEM programs than Columbia. Columbia does not market itself as a STEM school, and is generally far superior to RPI.
In fact, most of the Ivies are not STEM schools and, as do most who succeed in polite society, value the arts, social sciences, and all that distinguish one civilization from another (though one may see Alabama as more of a third world country, which would explain your inability to understand this point). I’d love to hear you now claim Auburn is superior to most of the Ivies because it’s Alabama’s STEM school.

Top 25 law and business schools (outranking UF and on par with UNC-Chapel Hill), average ACT of 32 (on part with UF, UT-Austin, UNC), and an acceptance rate that will likely hit the low 20s / high teens by the end of this decade. Major finance and big law placement in Atlanta, Charlotte, South Florida, and Dallas.
I’m sorry you’re disappointed in our superior university. Also, UGA law and business programs both outrank GT and Emory. Again, UGA — like most of America’s highly ranked universities — is not a STEM school.

Thank you, it’s an enduring enjoyment. Paired with an MBA and a four-year stint as a military officer, it’s a pleasant life in private equity in Palm Beach.
