1) nobody asked for money, State people offered money
2) State waited for him to go elsewhere and then got butthurt and squealed and cried and pointed fingers like the little bitch you are

Cam Newton continues to be the most cool,
Fly dude ever from the SEC
I should be taxed for all the amusement he brings to me on this board.

State would have gone 8-4 with Cam

Cash sought for Cam Newton
"Former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond told ESPN.com a teammate of Bond's at Mississippi State in the early 1980s contacted him soon after Newton's official visit to Mississippi State during the Ole Miss game in December, and said he was representing Newton.
He said it would take some cash to get Cam.
Bond said the former teammate told him other schools had already offered $200,000, but since Newton really liked Mississippi State and had a relationship with head coach Dan Mullen dating to when both were at Florida, Mississippi State could get him for $180,000.

$150,000 is not $180,000

I hate him as much as you but let it go

No. Newton is their 7-7 coach. I'm not sure I completely like it, but that is the way football is right now. It seems to be becoming like AAU Basketball.
Other programs will start having a lot of their ex-players coach 7-7 teams and it will eventually even out.
The schools will probably pay their ex-players some money and it will become another recruiting tool....but as of now, no, it is not illegal.

You wouldn't want the NCAA digging into the cam case. State already admitted they broke the rules and would be in trouble for sure out of the 2. Everything at Auburn was just assumed to have happened bc what State did.
What he is saying has nothing to do with Auburn's recruiting of cam newton, but are you saying if Auburn did recruit Cam dirty it is okay since MState started it?

Auburn cheating aint no newsflash.

I know reading comprehension can be difficult for you leghumpers, but what Rabren actually said was that people assume Auburn cheated solely because State admitted to cheating.

IMO this is where the Cam haters can't get their heads out of their &$%*(...Cam has and always will put a lot of time and money into young people. He was doing it at Auburn by reading with 2nd graders in 2010.
Most NFL guys have little to no interest in giving back. The idea that several former players will starting mimicking Cam's 7on7 approach is laughable especially if you are talking about the best players. Maybe some hanger on's might be interested in what you suggest, but then again what draw would a 2nd team All-SEC player from 10 years ago be to a highly rated recruit.

I mean Todd Gurley was there too recruiting for UGA.
If I’m mad about anything it’s that Cam lives 3 hours up 85 and can be more available in the state than most of our best NFL players

The misinformation from the Auburn crowd is simply stunning. No one was ever able to prove that Auburn boosters paid Cam or Cecil, so let's just accept that there was no violation there...MSU did not do anythying wrong either.
This is in direct conflict with Cecil's admission as well as all the other evidence in the case. Cecil and Kenny Rogers (NOT an MSU booster) told Bill Bell (an MSU boosters) that it would take $180,000 to sign Cam. Bell contacted John Bond (another booster and former member of the coaching staff) to ask what to do about the inappropriate request. Bell and Bond did not offer to pay any money, and instead reported the incident to MSU AD Greg Byrne. Cecil also told some MSU coaches in hotel room that Cam would not sign for free. Cecil admitted to all of that.
I don't know if State was "butthurt", but in keeping with SEC policy State reported the incident to the SEC office in February, 2010 (Cam signed with Auburn in December) [eta: Looks like I was wrong..found an article saying MSU reported it to the SEC in January, 2010]. I'm not sure how State was "pointing fingers" since all they reported was their own interactions with Cam and Cecil.
Some serious misinformation. State did continue to recruit Newton, knowing that if they signed him they would have to declare him ineligible and report the incident. When he signed with Auburn, State waited two months before deciding they should report it to the SEC. The SEC asked for more info, and State took another two months to provide that to the SEC office, because reporting info on a student athlete at another school is not a high priority. State's reporting to the SEC was completed in May, 2010.
Auburn investigated it's recruitment of Cam during the Summer of 2010, and decided nothing wrong had happened on their end. The SEC told MSU to drop it, and they did. Someone (still don't know who, but it was not the MSU athletic department) reported the incident to the NCAA and an investigation was opened in September, 2010. News didn't hit the media until October, 2010.
In the end, Cecil admitted that he asked for money for Cam, but claimed Cam knew nothing about it. That's why Cam skated...the NCAA rules prohibit a recruit from asking for money, but at the time the rules didn't say anything about a family member asking for money without the recruit's knowledge. The SEC bylaws specifically forbid a family member from asking for money, but Mike Slive decided not to enforce that provision.
MSU did not disassociate any boosters. Kenny Rogers is a former player, but he was not a booster because he had never donated any money to the Bulldog Club, or otherwise assisted in recruiting. MSU sent Rogers a letter stating that he was not a booster and was not allowed to ever become a booster due to his actions in the matter.

State disassociated with boosters as a result.

State went 8-4 without Cam. At the very least, I think if State had Cam and Auburn didn't, then State would have gone 9-3.

And your long statement of facts isn’t correct either starting with Rogers. Being an ex player makes him a booster.
