He never played QB under Gus. He was recruited by Gus but was coached by that loser who was best friends with Tom Brady.

After signing him to an extension are you at all concerned about him developing a QB? His best QB play has come from QBs that transferred in.
who gives a frick. Auburn just beat Alabama the frick down. Karma will take care of both Bama and UGA in the first round of the playoffs

Gus has been at Auburn 6 years basically. He has had these QB's and built them

Cam Newton
Nick Marshall
Jarrett Stidham

Who is that same time period has Alabama been able to build with all those top recruiting classes?

I will await your answer

It's a myth that coaches 'develop' a QB. You either have the tools, talent, intangibles, etc... or you don't. If you get enough great recruits every now and then you'll get lucky and have a great QB among them. Schools that recruit better get better talent at all positions including the QB.

Let's just say that he can't develop a HS QB tho I don't completely agree

The fact that in five seasons as AU's head coach he's been able to find a good QB for 3 of those years (Nick Marshall 13-14, Jarrett Stidham 17) shows he at least can consistently recruit JUCO talent. So even if he has to rely on transfers for good QB play he's at least shown he knows how to do that

I'm more worried about his ability to score points in the 2nd half or develop a consistent passing offense in general. The WR screens and bombs will only get you so far. Eventually you gotta figure out the intermediate routes as well. We finally ran several to great effect against bama and then went back away from it in the SECCG.

DIdnt Stidham carve up Saban defense after struggling against Dabo’s Earlier in the year?

Either Gus developed him or Clemson D is just better. Really odd question coming from team that got beat.

I think Gus is 1yr away from evening the score with ol Nicky

He was a CB at UGA but he was a QB at Garden City Community College, so it's not like he took a CB and made him a QB.

I’m pretty sure Marshall threw more interceptions in CC than touchdowns, so it’s not like he was lighting the world up.

Chip did a great job bringing JS along this season.

First few games Stidham had to knock the rust off, but once he got rolling

When he has time he almost always makes the right decision. We need to strengthen the OL next year. We were to dependent on the run to help with Pass Pro.

And if Auburn had beaten Georgia and then got beat in the first round....would that have been Karma?

That's not unique to Stidham. It's hard to stay cool when 300+ linemen are running at you full speed!
I wouldn't stand back there and take hit after hit. It's tough, but I guess that's why they make all the money get all the girls.

I was optimistic when Gus decided to allow QBs to get outside QB training. Chip Lindsey repealed that decision, so I guess it's his call and really is his offense. Willis seems to be progressing well, but then again, in limited action I thought Jeremy Johnson was too. I am hopeful. Stidham definitely improved as the season progressed, but that could have just been him knocking the rust off after not playing for a year.

Honestly I can't really say. Sean White got better while he was at AU, but was made of glass. Jeremy Johnson got worse, but I think it was psychological. Nick and Cam both improved in their time at AU working under Gus, so really, he's had one big flop and improved the play of the transfers he received. I think Gus gets too much grief over head case Jeremy Johnson.

We shall see how Stidham does moving forward. While he's a transfer, it would be unfair to not credit his progression or regression to Gus/AU, considering he'll be there for 3 years.

I didn't mean all day, more like 3 seconds. If you watch uga II after the 2nd quarter begins, LSU 2nd half, oddly enough Mercer and Clemson he rarely has 3 seconds. He doesn't need much, but he does need time to not be forced into a pre-read.

Pfft, have you forgotten about Kiehl Frazier,Woody Barrett, the corn fed white kid with attitude problem that got booted. All of these were Gus recruits that were not developed because they either didn't have it to begin with. That's a reoccurring issue with gus

I think the actual worry is whether or not he can concsistently recruit a juco or transfer QB that another coach has developed.
