I was at the game the year of the bonfire. We actually felt terrible for what happened, and I feel our halftime and presentation to the Aggie community was a genuine and heartfelt as could be. The rendition of TAPS you could have heard a pin drop.
That whole episode was a sad tragedy, and not a moment for anything but sober reflection. After all the cr@p, we are all still Texans, and too many young Texans died that day.

I haven't seen any OU fans make bonfire jokes. There's nothing funny about it.

Bonfire jokes will get taken down and get you a ban here. Even though this place doesn’t seem like it has rules it does, and the dignity of SEC fans means that Aggies are not subjected to jokes about dead kids on the SEC Rant. Natural disasters are off limits too, for the same reason of common human respect for all teams.

Hey —
This looks like a really fun board and I love the banter back and forth. That being said, I think you will find most OU fans will keep things “appropriate” and making fun of tragedy resulting in death is simply wrong!!
