No, its not typical. I am glad to be in the SEC and look forward go the games not just for the games but the overall college football experience. New tailgates and traditions.
But this schedule is not typical for any past SEC team. Show me any evidence of any SEC team playing 6 of the top 13 ranked teams where those 6 are in the SEC. It doesn’t exist.
However, this is a new era for all SEC teams. Every existing team added either OU or tx to their schedule. It will be harder for all teams. For OU, we happen to be catching teams at the top of their game. Like Ole Miss and Mizzou.
No SEC team will go undefeated. The old zero losses perfect season is now 1 loss (where 1 loss is equivelant to a perfect season). 2 losses is like 1. And 3 is like 2. If OU can go 5-3 in Conf and 9-3 overall, they stand a great chance to make playoffs due to that schedule - if the 3 losses are close to ranked teams.
It will be harder for ranked SEC teams to drop much in rankings due to playing so many ranked teams.

Good point.
Conference realignment, no divisions, scheduling changes, playoff changes, venue/broadcast changes, Nick Saban retires (potentially freeing up that one stranglehold spot near the top)...
We can all take educated guesses, but no one really knows how any of this is going to play out.

Someone sell me on Mizzou. Didn’t they lose a lot of players plus their defensive staff?

Yes, the 2 other games are @Auburn and home for South Carolina. At Auburn is tough no matter what. And SC has a connection with their HC having come from OU.
It will be a fight every game.

Look at their schedule. No Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi. They should have a very good record next season.

From what I've read, it's all hype from the portal additions they added and people are assuming that will make them better than last year's team.
Same assumptions being made about Ole Miss.

Ole Miss is alllll the way in for this season
It’s playoffs or bust and all roads have led to this season
Bc we lose everyone after 2024.

No one’s schedule this year is typical of any other year in college football history. You can’t even make a comparison. Never have so many top end programs been concentrated into only a couple of conferences. We are in completely uncharted territory going forward.
I think you are too hung up on rankings. In hindsight, pre-season rankings end up being crap anyway so there is no telling who ends up having the toughest schedule. However, the level of conference competition going forward will be the norm so get ready to have somebody in the conference getting a schedule similar in level of difficulty to OU/Florida this year.
I do disagree with you on the “no more undefeated teams” theory though. I think either Iowa State/Oklahoma State and VTech have a shot in the regular season

Every single year with Pedo State and Notre Dame starting in the top ten and shitting themselves.

Maybe not typical, but similar schedules have happened fairly regularly in the SEC. Tennessee has played Bama, Georgia and Florida every year since 1992. So we’ve had a few.

Penn state and Notre Dame top 10 every year and trash every year. They’ll never learn their lesson

I don’t know where LSU should be. That seems solid
Posted on 6/18/24 at 4:36 pm to The Orange Bull
A&M plays LSU who is always tougher than OM, regardless of rankings. Most years LSU is neck and neck with Bama as far as how tough they are to play. This year I predict LSU will end up being better than both OM and Bama.
A&M will have an easier year than any other they've had since they joined SEC since there is no longer SEC West. Their schedule is almost as easy as yours horns schedule. But, Texas got much luckier than them by getting to play Vandy and Kentucky in the same season.

Oregon, tu, and ou too high. Knock each of them down some and you have a good list.
ou has a brutal schedule. tu not so much.
